I have had the smaller one for quite a few years and use it every Saturday for steak night,always found it does the meat to our liking,we also use it when DGSs want burgers etc I have found they tend not to shrink too much,are you thinking of getting one Annie ?

Yes, I have. I find it cooks meat well and any fat runs off into a collection container. Quite surprising how much fat there can be. I don't use it regularly, but am pleased with the results when I do.

Been out of it's box once.
It was given to me as a present, not something I would of bought myself. I think it's one of those things you need to have out all the time, or it gets forgotten about.

I can't use the grill in the cooker, difficult trying to hold the grill pan and cleaning inside is difficult too,damn arthritis, so I can grill lamb steaks and chops in them ? And does the lid squash the meat?

I've got a small one, and it makes lovely toasted cheese sandwiches .

Sorry Anniebach, that wasn't much help. But I haven't used it for steaks etc, perhaps I should try. Can someone please tell me, do you have to pre-heat it on the highest setting?

I use mine quite frequently. I cook bacon and thin steaks on it. Auntieflo I also do toasted sandwiches on my Baby George. I'd say it's worth buying Annie. Unfortunately I lost the little drip tray, but just stick a little plate under the edge.??

Annie the lid doesn't squash the meat. I've done pork chops in mine, they always come out beautiful. DH cooks tomatoes in it too. I don't eat cooked tomatoes as they give me acid reflux. That's probably too much information!??

We use ours (small size) for pork chops, chicken breast pieces, lamb steaks, that sort of thing, oh yes and chipolata sausages. The only squashing I’ve noticed is with the sausages. It’s useful, saves putting the oven on of bedding for the grill, cooks quickly and is easy to clean. Just our opinion but hope it helps annie.

Yes we have one, I like the char grilled effect, we use it for chicken, and peppers I think we've done steaks, I imagine lamp chops or even lamb chops, Welsh of course, will cook quite well on it. Go for one Annie, they come in smaller individual sizes.

These comments are helpful. I'm very tempted as I find using the ordinary grill sometimes makes the meat tough.

My son and daughter both own one and they are great fans. I know my son cooks burgers, steak, bacon, and chicken on his. My sole involvement has been to suggest lining the drip tray with foil and when the fat is cold and congealed, lift it out and bin it. Anything to save work! Both of the have ignored this tip.

I bought one a few months ago, and love it. When I bought it, the description said it was the 5 portion one, but I`d be hard put to cook enough for 5 people in one go. The only problem I have with it is beefburgers, it will keep burning them! Does chops, pork loin steaks, bacon and sausages brilliantly. Does anyone know if it will do decent toast?

I’ve got one and use it constantly, cooks every kind of meat just the way hubby likes it. Does chops and steaks with bones nesutifully. I got a bigger one as like to go vegs on it too. Fish done to perfection and if you habit tried it, slices of fresh pineapple. Just lovely. Will try your tin foil trick zspringy, never thought of doing that! Toasted sandwiches also come out very well and it’s very easy to clean.

Used to have one but it went to the charity shop as after the first flush of use it got shoved to the back of the cupboard

Thanks everyone for this information. I have just ordered a Baby George, which seems ideal for one. It appears that this model is no longer available in the shops. I found a new one in damaged box on Ebay.

Mine is at the top of the cupboard, unused and unloved. However, when DD is home it may come out of the cupboard again!

I don't know anyone who has one so can't say if they are any good or not.
My sister has a fast cooker type thing that sits on the worktop, the name has completely escaped me, which she likes.

I have had two of different sizes and found them good. I don’t have one now because of space really - gave my one to DS many years ago. I found that it was easy to keep clean if you wiped it with kitchen paper after each use while the machine was still warm - easy quick job then - but DS would not do that and then it is a bit of a job.

I think I'll order the four portion one as although there are only two of us I would like to do veg as well and DH loves grilled pineapple.

Now I've just got to make space in a cupboard for it.

merlot I think half of the problem is the size. I bought a halogen oven and it is huge.
