What a relief - I thought it was me! I’m amazed how many sheets I use nowadays. I’ve no brand loyalty so buy whatever soft rolls are on offer. Will look out for Nicky’s though.
My livein grandmother always preferred Izal and thought our newfangled 1960s soft loo rolls were inadequate. We kept Izal too just for her. Of course shiny council paper was still provided in schools etc. for a long time, as was red carbolic soap. That institutional soap had a mention on Call the Midwife when a longlost sister was traced to a 1960s mental hospital.
In the 60s our LCC classrooms each had a roll of shiny paper. Children who needed it would run across the playground to the (roofless?!) lavatories with a paper banner streaming over their shoulders! I wonder when schools swapped to soft paper! How memories fade.

I notice the use of loo roll when the GC have been!!!
Perhaps it's time to 'bring out the Bronco' - great for tracing paper too!!!

Aldi 18 for £3.99 would suffice until I had visitors. Then it would be quilted perfumed ones. Removed after they had left and back to Aldi.

Beware nose blowers and bra padders !

As a child, I was in trouble for using too much toilet paper - the Izal kind in those days - so, when I was having a party, I took it upon myself to put up a notice in the loo to tell my friends to use no more than 3 sheets! My red-faced parents managed to take it down before any guests arrived.

We like the one with koalas on it, it used to be available just in Lidl but is now more widely stocked.

I changed to Nicky after seeing it recommended here - it's fantastic, nice and strong (and cheap). Best of all, Ocado sell it, and it's often on special offer, so I just order it with my normal delivery

Use cloth hankies for colds. Far sof2eter on the nose and more hygienic. Hot wash and ironing will kill ay germs. Flushing tissues blocks drains, discarding spreads germs and burning caused air pollution. Cloth hankies are the best.

The puppy one is now one of the thinnest and won't buy it.
I like Asda's or Morrisons own brand but also buy Velvet when it's on offer.
I keep meaning to go to Farmfoods to get some Nicky ones, have seen them recommended before.
My son is the user here, I know they are getting smaller but he can go through a roll pretty swiftly.

I hate carrying toilet rolls round super markets, so now bulk buy on the internet at a fraction of the price and delivered free.
I get 100 at a time and store them in the garage, so never run out. Cheap as chips so no panic about wastefulness.

Top tip I learned when my children were young is to squash the loo roll slightly when you put it on the holder, this stops the merry unrolling of yards of loo paper as they have to work harder to get ‘just enough’. It worked a treat, the only losers being TP manufacturers! I shall revive this habit when grandchildren are old enough to visit the loo on their own!

Just me and use a roll a week if that. I must make a note of when I start a rolll...hahahaha. Obvously as I work I use some at work and not at home.

I think a lot of people use toilet paper for nose blowing, I had a friend who often had a roll in her handbag.
I buy from Aldi in large packs and find it soft and strong and had no complaints.

Not sure how much Graffa & I get through but it must been reasonable usage or I'd notice. However, whenever DD comes home, I make sure we're well stocked as there's always a noticeable increase in consumption! I buy the cushioned type, whichever's on offer but I've heard Cushelle is very good & cheap too. Any other GNs use it?

Grandma always used Izal and we used to pinch the odd sheet to use as tracing paper. Oh, we were deprived, I tell you!

This reminds me of when my nieces used to visit the paternal grandparents ... when asking to use the loo they were then promptly handed 2 sheets each !!

Sainsbury's sell larger rolls that last longer but they are not very soft- grin

My ex -DH said when he was a teenager he always went out with a small supply of TP tucked in his underpants as men's toilets tended not to have any! My school had TP like Izal with the council name printed on it. My first Saturday job was at Woolworths. I had to build a pyramid of Izal toilet rolls and write 5p on each one

I knew a little girl who announced after her first day at school that she wouldn't go there anymore because the had 'plastic toilet paper'. No doubt it was izal or similar. From that day she went to school with a supply from home tucked in her knickers!
Yes I'm a fan of Nicky, as it has a slight fragrance and is super soft and cheap!

May I second the recommendation for Nicky toilet rolls. Looks great, works perfectly and costs a fraction of the advertised brands. We get ours in Farmfoods but have seen it in lots of discount stores.
