One in five new teachers leaving.
I have a bad stress headache today, never normally get headaches. I am buying a new house before selling my own, at least that was the plan. There has been a buying hold up, caused by waiting for sight of an important document. All in all 3 months has turned to 8 months. Just waiting for one document, which was `in the post` to nhbc
My buyer, february viewings, is starting to lay on the pressure. I had 25 extra and difficult questions to answer yesterday, some relating to building planning dating back to 6 years before we moved in, a new build.
The whole idea was that I would complete on my new home and move in stress-free, a bit at a time. I will definitely not move to rented. I had a string of people wanting to buy my property and will delay my buyer if needed
The stress is awful, widowed, doing it all myself and even with a good solicitor, I am churning up inside after yesterday`s questions

Nannytopsy, it sounds totally horrific what you are going through. What does your Solicitor have to say.? Surely, they must know both Exchange and Completion dates.
Still no confirmation that we can move, although the removals men have asked if they can start loading on Monday afternoon! This is beyond a joke!
good luck today mosaics.
If only we could turn the clock back, knowing what I know now, I would have moved at 60 to my (our) final home, never waited to 70
I am loading my garden with plants, as though time is moving so fast now that I cannot waste a minute. I started to check apple tree planting holes yesterday, just one and as a result, yet another session of arm and hand aches, having removed another 5 buckets of root-inhibiting stones and compressed builders mank, just that one hole which I had already `done`. I need to check 2 more of these holes this weekend, the 3 trees are coming next week. Once in, they will never be moved again and will never need to
My single twice divorced neighbour was insisting on removing my john innes compost from the back of my car and I mean insisting. I did not want him to `help`, all I do is roll it into a barrow and use it from the barrow. He would not take no for an answer and I found that intrusive, he is only a neighbour who I want at arms length. He is not and never will be, a best buddy. I have started using avoidance tactics such as keeping my shutters on that side, semi closed. He is probably genuinely caring but I am happy in my own bubble. I work a zillion times harder than he does, maybe he feels guilty because I am older and a foot smaller than him. Anyway, I did put a bolt on my back gate a few weeks ago and I always keep my front door locked even when in, he does not make me feel unsafe but we don`t always know the person next door or down the road, who they really are
Hey thanks boho43. The house has been advertised in the local paper - I was right to change EA, at least.
The second viewer coming tomorrow joked with the agent, saying he'd invite him round for a beer by the open fire when be bought the house. I just can't feel optimistic anymore, too many disappointments, I am trying to develop a thicker skin.
Fingers crossed our car boot stuff isn't blown away tomorrow!
Good luck with your viewing tomorrow mosiacwarts.
We had a viewing on a Saturday afternoon. I believe some do now, which makes sense over a weekend when families are more likely to be off work together.
The EA has just phoned - yesterday's second viewer isn't answering her phone, or emails. Personally I think it is very bad manners.
I have another second viewing tomorrow, I didn't think this EA did Saturdays. I'm doing a car boot in the morning so the day is going to be a bit fraught - up at 7, walk the dog, car boot at 8 am, finish at 12 noon, drop my daughter at the station, rush home and meet the
'Saturday' agent who's never been here to familiarise him with the house then leave him to show the viewer. I can then take my patient dog to the beach for his run.
I am terribly sorry to read your news Nannytopsy. I wish I could do something practical to help you.
Well we didn’t exchange last Friday or any day since. Today’s excuse is that we need to complete on 3rd but buyer’s solicitors we’re working for the 4th. We asked for the 3rd last week because of difficulty with removals. Today we were told we had to pay the removals deposit or lose the vans for completion on 3rd. Now they say they are not sure they can get the mortgage released on time, so still no exchange. We have run out of gin.
Moved? I wonder why.
I do feel odd when I come back, lots of things have been moved today. Keep your fingers crossed!
I was wondering!
Good luck with today's viewings.
My mother used to say 'she is the cat's mother' - I meant my daughter, not 'she'!
How nice of you all to write, thanks very much for your good wishes. I'm not hopeful about this second viewing, the questions were so odd.
She hasn't been here most of the year during all these viewings - today is No 21 - and is fed up we have to be out for two hours as I now have two one hour viewings. We hardly slept last night as they were replacing the track outside, won't be mentioning that to anyone! Hopefully won't happen for another twenty years! Men shouting, huge yellow machine, and some form of hooter/siren going off occasionally. My poor dog was beside himself.
She is writing a play, I'm hoping to drop her at a cafe with her laptop whilst I go back to the garage to get him to look at the car computer again. I hadn't figured on having to buy a new car, I hope he can fix it.
Enjoy your day, I have another viewing at 10 am tomorrow, I prefer them early so the dust doesn't have time to settle! xx
Sounds positive for your moves.
everything is crossed for you, luck has to be on your side
Mw - good luck with your second viewing.
Yippee! I'll have an extra slice of cake and toast you with it tonight Franbern. So envious of you, I should be writing in green!
Just kidding, keeping everything crossed for you xx
I've just finished answering some very odd questions from tomorrow's second viewer. Hopefully they are eccentric millionnaires! Have used the 'unknown' answer twice, the questions are so off the wall I don't know what they mean.
Getting dark here already, off to the beach in a mo, poor dog has had a horrible day as I had to take my car in very early. Orange and red light on the dash showing a mechanical problem, should never have driven through that flood. He said he reset the computer and they'd gone when I drove off ... half way home they came back on
Have a good evening all!
Well, EA spoke to purchasers and they said nothing major in Survey report, but they are passing it to their solicitors for a final check. Tomorrow their mortgage company surveyor is coming round, think that will be minor compared with the four hours by the private one last week.
Just heard I've got another 'second viewing' tomorrow. Not quite as exciting nowadays, who wants to bet she says 'such a lovely house, but too much work'.
Lovely news boho43, fingers and thumbs crossed! I can't understand why builders treat people so badly sometimes. My friend put in an offer on a house, her architect brother drew up plans, and she had three meetings with the builder. She waited two weeks for his 'quote' - he's completely disappeared, into thin air.
Another hot day I think, I'm off to the beach early. Some very bad car crashes locally yesterday, people seem to be driving so fast. The worst was a five car/tractor crash with children involved, the air ambulance came
, best wishes to all of them. The harvesters are absolutely gigantic and unnaturally wide, I just pull in to the hedge and wait for them to pass. For such huge machinery they have the smallest indicators.
Have a good day everyone, no idea when my daughter is coming home - and I'm out of Quorn mince! Off to the shops later.
Some of you may remember my posting a few months ago about moving to South Somerset & the problems with the builder etc. This has all been going on since June, but it seems to have been for ever!
Our buyer, bless him, agreed to wait for our completion, as he really wants our house.
Well, it’s actually happening, & we’re moving in less than a month now, so all you other ‘ movers ‘, hang on in there, it will happen .
Still dreading the actual move, & hoping we will have enough stamina to get us through the couple of moving days.
I am glad you are sounding perky and philosophical Franbern
I haven`t attempted a bath for years, could see me not getting out these days, a shower has to do. Ibrufen is a miracle drug, only took one dose after my lunch and my hands stopped throbbing. Will take paracetamol before bed and that will sort me out properly. I was awake a lot last night, coud have been the heat but I was always mindful of the arms and hands, they took a proper bashing, didn`t help that I used a lump hammer on a metal rod, vibrations straight into my joints
Gentle kneeling down weeding tomorrow before heat, got to give the creeping thymes a chance to smother weeds, if they don`t work then they will go
I have been thinking about you doing so much physical work craftyone, digging soil is very hard. I've been thinking about doing it, and only managed to lug the two wooden pallets onto the front lawn ready for the wood delivery!
Hope you can have lots of relaxing radox baths afterwards, I can't use it as it makes my skin so sore, I used to love a huge bubble bath.
Thinking of you Franbern, I do hope your survey was good and you don't have to go down to your 'wiggle room' figure. Takes a lot of time to save that amount of money and better in your savings. I've been paying off my £1000 credit card bill (had to use it whilst I was waiting for probate) at £60 per month for what seems forever! And thank you for sharing your zester with me, I haven't been a cook before, I'm just so bored, and thought it was a nice 'homecoming' for my daughter.
Ellianne, thanks for your input regarding the quotes and your attitude to house buying. I think I am just attracting the wrong type of people, I don't think they have the money
I am very suspicious of one of the viewers who is 'waiting' for the quotes before he 'calculates' his offer. He seemed nonplussed when I said the house was valued at £600K fully renovated, and the price was reduced to £400K to take into account the works required. And of course now I've read the survey again, I realise the £200K includes 'updating' the kitchen and bathroom too. This viewer said when he saw my mobile heaters he drew the conclusion that the boiler needed replacing as it wasn't sufficient to heat the house ... I had to explain that we lost a kitchen radiator when we had the kitchen refit and my daughter did her art work in here. Can't paint with cold hands! I didn't say we often wear our coats in the house in the winter ... and a hat sometimes! You never know what viewers think, I suppose it was good that I showed him around, but he was definitely looking to get as much money knocked off as possible. I watched a programme yesterday where a house in Cyprus was priced at £146K - the couple offered £125,500K and seemed quite proud? The offer was declined but they still offered and were accepted at £133K. I will wait and see what happens, in a hundred years time none of this will matter
No idea what to eat tonight, off to the beach later when it cools down, my dog is a lot better now he's had the anti biotics.
