Sliding pans on induction hob

Thanks to everyone who has replied. Even if I put a cold pan on without switching on, it slides. I’ve read that a thin silicon mat can be used under the pan. Has anyone tried this?

Hetty58 I’ve only had gas cookers or more recently a gas hob, as I felt they were more responsive. However, I’m very pleased with the responsiveness of my induction hob. And it’s so much easier to clean!

I love mine! All those wasted hours cleaning the gas one - when I thought that they were best. I'd suggest lower heat and gentler stirring. I do hold onto the handle too.

No problems with my induction hob; wouldn't have anything else.

I've had an induction hob for years and love it. I keep hold of the saucepan handle with one hand, whilst stirring with the other. I've never had a problem, apart from like others have said, that pans slide about when the hob is wet. Your husband might be better to keep hold of the pan.

We have an induction hob now and are very please with it.
Never had any problem with pans sliding -- but maybe you had the heat too high?
Try it with minimum heat first.
ps on second thoughts, sometimes the pan goes over the heated area and the power on the hob goes off?

my pans all have good bases, le creuset tri ply and they can slip even if perfectly dry underneath. It depends who is stirring. I always hold the handle and only today had to teach dgd how to do the same

If I'm stirring one-handed I find that the pan does tend to spin around. So I make sure that something solid, that won't burn, is beside the hob and let the pan handle go round until it meets the solid object. That stops the spinning.

My pans do slip a bit if there's not much in them and I stir the contents too vigorously e.g. when making a white sauce. I just try and stir more gently or hold the handle.

No, the pans are perfectly dry! It’s quite tricky if stirring with one hand and adding ingredients with the other! And DH likes to have one hand on the worktop.

Yes nonnie, they do slip if the
base is wet.

I hold the handle of the pan with my other hand whilst stirring. This is my third induction hob, I wouldn't have anything else now.

Has any water spilled over? That's my only suggestion as we don't have that issue.

DH has some health issues but is trying to retain his independence as long as possible, including cooking. I was concerned that pans on our gas hob could possibly tip up, so we’ve just bought an induction hob. I like it very much, but we find that saucepans have a tendency to slip slightly when stirring. I’ve read that this can happen if the base of the pan is warped, but a brand new pan also slips. Has anyone any suggestions?
