thread number 4

Bonjour from me, Ellianne, here. Go for it, Shandy, try to remain positive even though you can't magic the outcome.
You might need to contact the vet to see their policy regarding getting an appointment. Ours is only doing emergencies, no vaccinations or general stuff. You have to hand the animal over to them from your car, they take it in for treatment and return it to you. Luckily we have never had a reluctant or anxious dog but I can imagine a few animals getting aggressive when they are scared. We did have a fighter cat who scratched the vet to pieces once.

See Jane10 and others we have the most random conversations here, so do join in!

???for the auction tonight. Do hope your house goes for an amazing price! Shall be thinking of you.
Another glorious day here, Craftyone the weather is going to get colder, leave the dust and enjoy the sun!

craftyone Wed 25-Mar-20 07:48:50

a big communal gathering of the clan around you shandy, that line will soon be drawn flowers

A rest day for me as in me not hoisting big heavy bags. The sun has shown up dust everywhere, especially on the fridge bottoms and don`t mention skirtings. Cleaning today for a couple of hours, or maybe just a portion of that, no-one to see it anyway. Plus a nice fresh-air solo cycle ride. Veg box comes today, wonder what is in it? Ahh, the small excitements

Shandy57 Wed 25-Mar-20 07:36:03

Morning all, my dog woke me at 6.30 am and tricked me into thinking he needed to go in the garden. He is eating and drinking normally but his nose is warm and he is panting even though I switched the heating off. I think I'm going to have to take him to the vet for a check up. He's eleven and a half now.

Luckily my x trail is back, it's difficult getting him in the back of the corsa, it's two door and I can't twist easily to put him on the back seat.

Glad your puss cat went off happily Mythbirtthedragon. I need to buy more cat litter, had to buy a rubbish brand as all my normal one had gone.

Day two of lockdown and I do feel odd. I took my dog to the beach in the morning, saw a few people in the distance. He won't poo in the garden so took him to a lonely country lane for his evening walk, was a bit spooky so not doing that tonight.

Have a good day and I hope you all have enough food. I am writing a shopping list as I run out of things so can shop once, I realise I go to the shops every day normally.

Will check in tomorrow with news smile

Anoia Wed 25-Mar-20 07:33:29

I just lurk on this thread but would like to wish Shandy57 good luck with the Auction today.

Mythbirtthedragon Wed 25-Mar-20 07:15:20

Good luck with the auction, Shandy. I’m interested in the outcome. Just dropped in to say the removal of the cat from Southend did happen yesterday evening. Her new owner collected her herself and for a cat who until recently was very attached to her late owner and unsociable, she appears to have moved very easily.

Oopsadaisy3 Wed 25-Mar-20 06:49:33

Good morning everyone, just checking in.
I am on edge about the auction later! Fingers are still crossed.
Then Shandy has to physically move out! I hope she is organised, we always underestimate how much stuff we have don’t we?
I cleaned the bathroom from top to bottom yesterday and filled 2 collapsible plastic crates, just to move it all out and back in again, and that’s just the bathroom.
We have tile ‘issues’ the plan was that we would come home from our hols in April, and have the bathroom ripped out and a walk in shower put in, but DH was ill, so we cancelled the holiday, all the tiles have now started falling off and are now stuck on with white Duck Tape, not attractive, but it will have to do until we are back to normal and able to get out to order the new fittings.
Yesterday I noticed that the tiles have also blown on another wall in the bathroom, so it must be some kind of tile adhesive fatigue, (after 21 years? ) Seems a bit odd and it looks awful, but I do the equivalent of putting my fingers in my ears and going la la la.......

Whiff Wed 25-Mar-20 06:37:42

Jane10 why don't you feel revelant? If you notice we do via away from moving or moved house. I know I go off subject many a time ie. talking about what jobs we have done in the past and hobbies etc. One thing about this thread everyone has an opinion about different things but we don't ridicule eachother if we disagree.

It's like my sit fit and craft group. A good mix of ages and experiences. Just look how much we are all crossing everything today for Shandy57. We all want her to have her happy ever after. I for one when her house sells will be cheering out loud.

I know I need you all especially as like many of the country am isolated and won't leave home for weeks. I will do a bit of gardening to get some fresh air and exercise. Will be doing my exercise sheet from sit fit, hobbies and video play days with the grandsons. Both my children have told me when I need shopping they will do it . That won't be for 3 weeks. If I have calculated right.

Dottygran59 role call great idea. Should have started this by saying Whiff checking in.

Shandy57 hope you had a good night's sleep try not to worry. Easier said than do. You may feel like shouting or crying do both if you need to . We all need to vent our emotions at times. Know I do. I'm like a raving mad woman when I get annoyed with myself. Sending hugs and kisses to you and am virtually holding your hand.

Stay safe everyone.

Everything crossed for Shandy tomorrow , even my eyes.....

aggie Tue 24-Mar-20 18:15:12

Fingers x for you Shandy

Grammaretto Tue 24-Mar-20 18:13:28

Yes Shandy when do we send our powerful vibes?
It only needs one buyer.

I know what you mean about the internet being a boon craftyone, whatsapp especially. I had a phone call from a friend who is not online and doesn't have a mobile phone. She is bewildered by all this. Her DS has told her to keep at home but she has been going for long walks daily. She'll probably be fine but she is lonely.
Only another 82 days......

GrannySomerset Tue 24-Mar-20 18:12:06

Usually a lurker on this most enjoyable thread but wanted to wish Shandy well for tomorrow. We are all desperate to have good news on her behalf - she has certainly earned it.

Dottygran59 Tue 24-Mar-20 18:08:19

Oh Shandy, what a lovely idea. A roll call. Well here I am. And will check in tomorrow to wish you luck. It seems ages since you decided to auction the station. We all hope that this horrible situation works to your advantage, Shandy. You’ve been so brave and patient

Ellianne Tue 24-Mar-20 17:22:39

I too am excited about tomorrow's auction. I've been flicking through the property pages and noticed a couple of unsold houses that were around when we were looking 12 months ago have suddenly reappeared on the market. Both at a higher price! Maybe some people are thinking there will suddenly be buyers ready to snap up properties for all sorts of reasons. Fingers crossed * Shandy*, I'm sure you're in with a good chance.

craftyone Tue 24-Mar-20 16:54:03

Franbern, please be extremely cautious. A man has passed away at weston hospital

craftyone Tue 24-Mar-20 16:17:42

lists can keep us going sometimes when the world is a bleak place, I had a list for every day after my husband died. I wrote a few things before I went to bed and I wrote my meals down. Then I had something to get up for

Now ds is setting up whatsapp and I am not so good at working it all out, I never needed it before so I never bothered, its quite hard catching up. That makes me think about the many people who never got to grips with the internet, its a very tough learning curve for them right now, with no-one standing at their shoulder to help them

Jane10 Tue 24-Mar-20 16:12:19

I've been checking in every day but haven't posted as I don't feel I'm relevant to you house movers. I'm very excited about the auction. Surely, surely, Shandy57 is due a large lump of good luck ?

Whiff Tue 24-Mar-20 16:04:08

You all know I like lists. Did a complete stock check of food , cleaning stuff and toiletries. Then made lists under different headings. Think I am getting obsessed but in a good way.

My fitter brought the rest of the things to put in the garage ready for when we get back to normal and the shower can be done.

Had a play date online with my daughter and grandson. It was lovely. Isolated but not. Modern technology is going to be the saving grace for a lot of people in the weeks to come. Never thought I would be one of them but am glad I am.

Shandy57 what time does the auction start tomorrow and do you know what number you are on the list? Try and get a good night's sleep.

Going to be another sunny day tomorrow. Can't believe we alter the clocks the weekend.

See you all tomorrow.

www.facebook.com/SadlersWells/

Friday is World Theatre Day and Sadler's Wells are giving a free digital performance on Facebook at 7.30 pm, an amazing group of dancers, Balletboyz. We saw them at Edinburgh, I was mesmerised. Catch it if you can, I'm a huge fan smile

Shandy57 Tue 24-Mar-20 14:48:09

And would be good to know you are OK with an informal roll call - would you consider just saying hello every day?

Shandy57 Tue 24-Mar-20 14:43:34

And just a big thank you to you all for encouraging me to forge ahead and enter the auction. I have had an encouraging number of viewings, someone has spent a lot of money commissioning a survey, perhaps Lady Luck will smile down upon me smile

Shandy57 Tue 24-Mar-20 14:24:52

Just back from the beach to a 'marketing report' from the auction house. Three viewings mentioned, I knew nothing about, don't think they happened. I emailed back to query it, think I'm in the dog house now! Just a nonsense to have sent it. I thanked them for all their hard work smile

I've been having a look at 'planners' and found this free printable site. I know Whiff and a few others like lists, I thought it might help to plan out how to use this unexpected time. I'm going to write 'chocolate' in once a week to eke out my supply!

Grammaretto Tue 24-Mar-20 14:21:47

I agree craftyone but I understand Franbern. It is also the feeling of impotence while your DD is so so busy and needs your help but you can't and the jobs for you suddenly seem pointless.

Think of it as by keeping happy and occupied, you are helping them so they won't worry about you.

Being able to accept charity is a skill. A young(er) friend has just left a loaf of bread and 2 croissants at my doorstep. I'd better rescue them before the birds rats do
It's your duty to keep happy smile

craftyone Tue 24-Mar-20 14:14:56

Franbern, it has to be a small list, it sounds as though you need just a bit of structure. You can still get some crafting stuff online, perhaps a cross stitch or some pencils and a drawing book, an adult colouring book perhaps?. Then make partitions in your day, so that when you sit down it is a kind of reward for getting something done earlier. The positivity needs to come back and it will.

I am sitting now but I did some garden stuff, that made me feel satisfied and being satisfied brings in that positivity afterwards. Small chunks for all of us right now.
