Wonderful news, Spice. So pleased you have found your new home now, and it is all working out okay for you. Always knew your home was out there waiting for you to find it. Let us have some photos when you can.

Spice101, congratulations on finding your new home.

Merry Christmas to hou too Whiff.

14 months after selling our home we last night had an offer on our new home accepted. The property went onto the market last Thursday, we saw it on Saturday, did a second viewing on Tuesday and put in our offer on Wednesday morning. It was accepted Wednesday evening. The sale subject to a satisfactory building and pest inspection but we do not expect any issues. The house is only about 12 years old and ticks most of our boxes although does come with a swimming pool which we don’t really want. GS1 has already declared they will come for swims.
Best thing is that we settle mid Feb which is a couple of weeks before our lease ends. So, just one move for us now. This all happened on my birthday so I’m happy to take that as a combined birthday and Christmas present.

Best wishes to you all.

Just want to wish you all a happy Christmas. Have the best time you can . Eat , drink and be merry. Hopefully by Easter life will get back to some sort of normal. But Covid is here to stay like flu. Take care and all stay safe.

Got up early today and was at Sainsbury by 6.30. Lady on the door said that when they had opened at 600 there was aqueue of about 20-30. When I arrived I went straight in. Big shop, I host my bubble family on Boxing Day. Half way home realised I had forgotten my eggs (I lost my shopping list half way round). So back home, everything out of car and into my trolley, left in garage whilst I trundled over to my small Tesco to get those. That little shop was totally empty.
Fridge and freezer items all unpacked and put away, now enjoying my belated breakfast. Will put away other items later on.
Later this morning one of my U3A groups is having a fun zoom quiz session for Christmas.

Thanks

Oopsadaisy1 Just to say that Whiff has been contributing right up to today on other threads. Very sensible contributions, so she is probably just having a break from this one.

Pittcity Sun 20-Dec-20 21:30:38

Wishing you all the best Christmas that you can make it and know that 2021 will be much better.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 20-Dec-20 21:22:07

Just wondering if Whiff is ok? Has she posted since her Covid test?

Hope she is all right.

Franbern Sun 20-Dec-20 18:30:28

Best wishes to you all over this festive season. Very different one for all of us this year. Just hope we will all still be around to enjoy smething better in 2021.

Must admit that today I ....threw caution to the winds!!!

Decided I was fed up with being good and obeying so many rules and safety procedures.

Went into rebellion mode.........and

made myself a lovely chocolaty, delicious cake.

So much for my careful diet!!!!

Elusivebutterfly Sun 20-Dec-20 10:54:28

Happy Christmas everyone. I hope everyone has as good a time as they can given the new strict rules.

Shandy57 Sat 19-Dec-20 12:12:17

Good morning everyone, I'm signing off for the year and would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a much better New Year! Big thanks to you Craftyone for starting this thread, I am glad to be entering the new year with such optimism for my new home and new life. Love to you all xx

Ellianne Fri 18-Dec-20 18:20:28

That sounds positive Shandy, good to have a date to work towards and there's a bit of leeway there if it overruns a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed and enjoy Christmas without worrying.

Shandy57 Fri 18-Dec-20 17:41:01

Evening all, I've finally heard back from the vendor's EA, eight days after emailing and two telephone messages later.

It seems there's a 'note' on the file saying that the vendor phoned in, has spoken to her solicitor, and they are going to push for exchange early February. I assume they are going to ask to exchange/complete on the same day.

All very well, but I have to give notice on 7 January if I wish to leave on 6 February. Considering their performance so far, I will budget for another month's rent/bills.

At least I know and can now relax over Christmas smile

Shandy57 Fri 18-Dec-20 11:45:02

Thank you for your cheery post Ellianne, it's lifted my spirits. Joyeux Noel to you and your family too, and anyone looking in.

I've just been into town and discovered the retired practise nurse has died from cancer - she was marvellous to me when we moved here twenty years ago. I'm determined to have a good day smile

Ellianne Fri 18-Dec-20 10:19:16

The last working Friday of the year and it's all happening here.
The new neighbours opposite my daughter are moving in today. There were only two new houses built on the plot and my daughter and family had first choice. They are deliriously happy.
My son and wife had an offer accepted on a house a couple of days ago. Papers are now in the pipeline, full steam ahead.
My wacky wallpaper is going on as we speak. It had better look good with my new chair and sofa.
Phew! I'm off out to my last French group of the year. It has been a nice distraction seeing as I was unable to go over to France this year.
Joyeux Noël to everyone. And so good this thread has kept going to the end of the year. Plus the little meet up in September.

Shandy57 Wed 16-Dec-20 19:56:30

Thanks midgey, that's what my Mum had, I asked my neighbour if he had a spare piece. He kindly gave me a seven foot stick of wood and had cut the 'v' in the top - about six weeks later about six inches fell off the bottom, completely full of woodworm! I left it up, short as it was, and it then fell down against the front door, nearly jumped out of my skin. Luckily didn't damage the door. It's now gone back to the neighbour smile

midgey Wed 16-Dec-20 19:34:15

Shandy the best line props are from B and Q or similar, a nice long piece of wood and cut a v in the top. I had to use the bread knife as I had no saw but it worked!

Shandy57 Wed 16-Dec-20 16:32:20

Oh I like that Ellianne, lovely.

Good luck to your son and DIL, I am finding it so frustrating being ignored by the EA. Tried again this afternoon, answering machine is full. 6 working days left in the year and I still have no idea when I might move. How very dare they!

Ellianne Wed 16-Dec-20 15:58:43

It is very irritating when things we order online aren't fit for purpose.

I bought a nice chair for the snug yesterday. My DH was worried he wouldn't fit in it. I explained it wasn't for sitting in, just for show! It is made from posh upholstery remnants. The wallpaper is going up tomorrow.

Our son and wife had their offer on a house accepted at the weekend. They are going full steam ahead to beat the deadline. Fingers crossed.
