Was just reading in a mag, that most people move 11 times in their lifetime, counted mine and it’s 9 , anticipate one more move downsizing( married Twice )

At last count it was around 17/18.
I am bound to move again at some point for sure.
My dh thinks it`s hilarious as he has only lived in three homes.
His birth home, his first flat with his partner and 2 dc`s and where he moved to after which is where we are now.

7 ,3 as a child we moved when I was 2 then 12 and I left that house to get married in 1975 .We were allocated a brand new council house 3 bedrooms back and front garden semi detached. We stayed there 8 years until our business was stable ,then bought a flat in the town 1 mile away we moved to a chalet bungalow 18 months later and this house 5 and a bit years after that because we needed an extra bedroom for our new baby .We hope to downsize in the future ,I've never lived further than 20 miles where I was born in Glasgow and within a one mile radius of our first married home and never more than a mile from my parents and sisters ,How sad is the....lol .I do love where I live .

A magnificent 5. My parents moved house once. I moved out into a flat, met first wife and we bought a house. We then moved twice more, the last being retirement when I was 55, 17 year ago. First wife died some years back, and current wife still lives in UK, while I am in La France Profonde - we used to visit each other before Covid, but now it's only Zoom! - and expect to die here, but preferably no time soon!

31. RAF father!

Blinko Fri 22-Jan-21 18:47:44

Eleven, I think. My father was in the Army so we moved with him, though not as frequently as some.

Black Country to Yorkshire. Yorkshire to Germany. Germany back to Hampshire, then back 'home to roost' in the Black Country. We've moved house three times since being married and have been in our present home for 30 years.

Eleven if you count twice living in Nurses Homes, whilst training.

I hope I stay here forever. But who knows?

Marydoll Fri 22-Jan-21 20:05:24

Seven and no intention of moving again, unless it's the graveyard!

Davida1968 Fri 22-Jan-21 20:06:06

I've lived in seven houses, including the house I was born in. Plus two short-term (rented) homes, between house purchases.

Kim19 Fri 22-Jan-21 20:12:13

6 for me and hopefully no more.

Biscuitmuncher Fri 22-Jan-21 20:13:23

Twice DH has only moved once!

grannysyb Fri 22-Jan-21 20:20:37

Probably about eleven or twelve.

SueDonim Fri 22-Jan-21 20:28:06

I forgot one move which I only learnt about quite recently, from my sister. Apparently we lived with my GP’s for a while when I was a toddler. I vaguely recall their flat but I had always assumed that was from visiting them, not that we were living there!

Someone in my village still sleeps in the same room in which he was born, 70-odd years ago. I always think that must be weird for his wife, somehow.

Grandma70s Fri 22-Jan-21 20:30:05

I’m in my 11th home, I think. Most of the moves were when I was young. I was in my previous house for 40 years, but I have moved to a flat for practical reasons.

Urmstongran Fri 22-Jan-21 20:36:25

At least they’re not snug in his cot SueDonim!
