Never when I was younger would I have thought it would make me so happy to hang my towels outside on the washing line. ?
Let the sunshine ?

I can't dry washing outside, due to allergies. The tree pollen is already a nuisance. It's a shame, as I'm sure the sunshine and breeze gets it all extra nice!

No washing line, but put the airer outside, we don’t have a tumble drier either, airer goes in spare room when the weather’s rubbish.

The best chore of all---washing and hanging it outside. Better than dusting grin

This son's knowledge of science seems to be on par with the Covid deniers, etc. What total rubbish he spouts.

Now in a flat and although I have a large balcony, hanging washing on that is not permitted. I can see the sense in this. So, I have to dry all washing in my tumble dryer. When the sun is shining brightly and a lovely breeze blowing I really miss the whirlygig I had at my house.

I also prefer my towels slightly rough jusnoneed. I love hanging washing out to dry. I even enjoy the 'science' of it. Putting the thickest fabrics where I know the sun lasts the longest. Hanging garments up by the thickest parts so they dry first.

And as for the image of my DGS's little clothes, blowing in the wind.

I would never have thought I could turn into such a soppy old bird!

I don't have a washing line all my washing goes in the dryer from choice.

I've always liked the smell of washing fresh from the line but I find that I can now equally like it warm from the dryer. It seems so much easier than it did too.

Totally agree with Pippaz.

Although I have a voyeuristic interest in looking at what people hang on the line. A neighbour of mine used to boil (yes, boil) all the week's underwear from her and husband, A line of pristine white airtex vests and pants. Unbelievable in this day and age. We both wear all-black undies that are washed and dried and stored without a single display to the world.

The sheer joy of baby clothes blowing on the washing line is heaven sent.

My pregnant daughter was quite bemused with my obvious joy at hand washing all my future first grandchild's baby clothes in fairy and pegging them out on the washing line to blow in the summer breeze.

How I loved to see my own children's pure white nappies and towels pegged out to dry.

In reality though both my children and my next grandchild were midwinter babies, so those days were often few and far between.

My grandsons are 6 and 7 now but I still enjoy pegging out their clothes and pyjamas after a sleepover.?
