any recommendations for dishwasher tablets please. I have always used Aldi but they do not seem as good as they one were.

I'm with rascal - I prefer powder because I can use less for a light wash. I don't like to use more of anything than I need. I also have a magnet ball in the dishwasher and I'm sure it helps. It has been there for years!

I use Asda's own brand, but buy Finish if/when they're on offer

We began using the all in one tablets when they became available but are sure that they have decreased in efficacy over the years.

Only last week we bought 'normal' tablets, adding rinse aid and salt and the difference is astounding - for the better!

Previously, our glasses were dull, certainly didn't sparkle, and it was as if there was almost a film over everything. We assumed it was our hard water that was the culprit but now we have sparkling glasses and the dishes actually look clean.

We will look at the Tesco range to see if they sell 'normal' tablets, too as their dish-washing products have been recommended here.

DH has just come back from TOFS with 110 Finish Powerball for £10 so I won’t be trying Smol for a while at £4.60 for 30 tablets.

Fairy Platinum though Aldi is a close second in the dishwasher tablet league table produced by the well know product testing magazine.

Parsley3 Wed 23-Jun-21 16:21:25

I use Lidl own brand but I will have a look at Smol.

I've mentioned this before, on a detergent thread; I buy from a mail-order company, Smol. The dishwasher tablets work just as well as big brands as do the detergent capsules. They come in re-cyclable flat packaging that goes through the letter box. In both cases, they are undoubtedly economical.

I’ve been using Asda’s own dishwasher tablets since first lockdown. I’m happy with the clean dishes etc.

We use Aldi "all in one" tablets and find them to be excellent. I wonder whether water "quality " plays a part in this? Ours is reasonably soft.

I don't think so.....I have got an installed softener and of course dishwashers also have intrinisc softeners which is what the salt is for.

I use whichever make are the cheapest when I do my click and collect order at Tesco. Living alone, I only use my dishwasher a couple of times a week, or less, but always wash on a long, hot wash and generally have no problems. But then I’m not too fussy!

Lidl's own brand all in one brand works fine in my dishwasher. I’m in Devon where we have soft water.

I find Finish Power Powder more economical than tabs. You only need to use a small amount for good results and it lasts for ages. It's £3 for 1kg at Asda. smile

I only buy fairy platinum . I try to stock up when they're on special offer.

glammanana Wed 23-Jun-21 09:07:16

I don't have a dishwasher anymore but when I did I always used Finish with really good results I used the tablets for other things around the house as well as,popped one in the loo for keeping the bowl pristine dissolving in hot water to keep white net curtains bright, they also remove any perspiration stains from underarms on clothing.

Lidl usually. I first bought them to use when we were on a gîte holiday in France and they worked well. Ecover when they’re on offer. I run a dishwasher cleaner about once a month. How well tablets work does sometimes depend if you’re in a soft or hard water area.

Scribbles Wed 23-Jun-21 00:25:45

Lidl's all-in-one tablets. They do an excellent job and dissolve properly even on a quick wash which can't be said of all the own brand ones I've tried.

M0nica Tue 22-Jun-21 22:50:11

Supermarket own brand, although obviously not Aldi.

mumofmadboys Tue 22-Jun-21 22:45:43

Sainsburys own. Cut tablets in half. Always does a good job. No problems. Picked up tip of halving tablets from someone else.

aggie Tue 22-Jun-21 22:37:02

I use Lidl own brand

Fairy Platinum for us too, they do a great job. I’m considering trying Smol though.

Jaxjacky Tue 22-Jun-21 21:20:52

We too use Tesco’s own, no issues.
