New kitchen with aquamarine tiles splash back, porcelain (v pale cream) cupboards, wooden worktop, stainless steel fridge freezer, built in ovens. Having a real job choosing a colour for rest of walls. Love the tiles. Better to contrast or choose contrasting colour? You were all so helpful with tile colour, but now need more help!

I can’t help with colour choosing but I do like your wooden worktop very much.

Hello!
Are these the aquamarine tiles?
Are they like the pale shade here:

I'd have to add a warm colour, if only on one wall (or the floor) to make it cosy. Apart from the wood, it's all so pale that it counts as neutral. So, there's a wide choice - just choose something you love!

I would choose a colour that is either one shade darker or lighter than the aquamarine tiles.

Very pale aquamarine. Hope this picture shows.

What about an aquamarine colour to bring in a bit of contrast and warmth?

Chewbacca Fri 13-Aug-21 18:31:57

A contrast, such as Farrow and Ball's Charlotte's Locks would be good.

I have similar kitchen but shiny pale grey with large glass Aquamarine glass splash back over stainless steel range cooker.
I went with very pale grey and added bright colours in pictures.
Makes it look bigger and brighter. If I get fed up I can change the pictures
Yours looks lovely good luck and sure it will be fabulous.

Lisagran, to me, there's nothing warm about aquamarine - quite the opposite. The wood offers warmth, but not enough. Chewbacca, yes, a little orange or gold would warm it up.

I cant "read" the tile as aquamarine on my phone - it's got a pinky tinge. Assuming it is a very pale aquamarine I'd look at sage colours initially:

Just had a thought... wondering, is the cream of the cabinets a yellow cream, pink cream or orange cream would you say?
I think I'd like to know this so you don't have an off-shade-clash.

susytish Sat 14-Aug-21 10:05:41

I am now wondering about a pale pink!

susytish Sat 14-Aug-21 10:08:42

The cabinets are a very pale cream. Colour is called porcelain. Would not like to say if pink cream, etc.

NotSpaghetti Sat 14-Aug-21 10:42:07

Maybe the pink side of truffle would be nice?
Assuming the porcelain is how it seems online (predominantly on the pink side of cream but not cashmere).

susytish Tue 17-Aug-21 21:14:21

No. They are very pale aquamarine.

SpringyChicken Tue 17-Aug-21 23:16:00

I would choose teal green

I cannot believe I am having such a problem choosing a paint colour! The units are porcelain (v pale cream), worktop wood, tiles I call v pale aquamarine/grey. Just need a colour for the walls that are left. The knobs on the doors are a nickel colour and I am now wondering a brownish colour so the units stand out?
I would be grateful for any advice. You have all been really helpful up to now, its is me who cant decide!

I'm very taken with a couple of Farrow and Ball shades - Pigeon and Ammonite.
You could look at those or colour match?

Chewbacca Wed 18-Aug-21 11:46:34

Dee1012 I've got Cornforth White, Ammonite and Pointing in my kitchen. Looks stylish and warm. Good combo.

PinkCosmos Wed 18-Aug-21 11:50:47

I think that you should stick to the same porcelain colour as the units.

It depends on the size of your kitchen. My kitchen isn't very big doesn't have any vast expanses of empty wall so it is painted the same colour s the units (cream). If it was a different bolder colour it would break the kitchen up too much and look bitty. There would be strips of colour over the wall units on narrow bits of wall etc - hope that makes sense.

If you have one clear wall with no kitchen units on it I would paint that a darker aquamarine as a feature wall.

PinkCosmos Wed 18-Aug-21 11:51:45

I meant if the wall colour was a bolder colour, not the units. Sorry.

You could also put a mirror or pictures a feature wall

PinkCosmos Wed 18-Aug-21 11:52:52

* on the feature wall.
Sorry for typos - need to put my specs on confused

Look at rolling fog from little green paint co.
It’s a kind of soft brown that comes in 3 shades.
