I prefer to make an egg custard myself, but a tin of custard powder never comes amiss, does it?

We always have icecream for one of the Christmas Day puddings. Elder son won’t eat anything with dried fruit in it so he won’t eat Christmas pudding. His favourite is my homemade toffee icecream.

I would have devilled eggs and sparkling rose wine.

Just thinking how cold it is here but if she is in Australia ice cream dish just right.

I thought the OP maybe lived in Australia or NZ, hence the ice cream.

Please don’t misunderstand my post - I wasn’t intending anything by it. I was genuinely surprised - I’m someone who’ll be thinking about what to provide on NY Eve about 2 days before!!

I was a single mum and worked full time so Christmas/ New Year preparations started as soon as I could afford to. I would buy presents during the summer and put them away. I see nothing wrong in planning ahead, particularly if you're catering. If it's not your thing then that's fine too.

What’s wrong with a glass of bubbly? There will probably be a champagne shortage so I’d buy some now .

We don’t allow the “C” word in our family ( Christmas) before October - but New Years Eve?
Why plan this far ahead- who knows what will be in the shops if anything, by then!

Am I in a time warp here, or is this a bit early to be thinking about - 4 months hence? Gives you plenty of time to practice I guess!

You're welcome. You could add sparklers to it when it comes out of the oven. ☺️ An ice cream bombe is good too but quite complicated to put together.
