My number one is getting the vacuum out and hoovering, I find it very therapeutic ?. I can honestly say I’m no Freddie Mercury wanting to break free,

Just realised that my previous post sounded very rude, Norstat - I'm not assuming that your oven is any grubbier than mine, honest! smile

Just packing rubber gloves as I type!

Trisha57 Sat 16-Oct-21 19:05:50

Now, emptying wine glasses I am very good at! I would love to clean your oven Nortsat - I would view it as a new challenge!!! grin

Nortsat Sat 16-Oct-21 18:58:23

I was going to say emptying the dishwasher and seeing all the clean dishes tidily put away in the cupboards.

However having read the thread, now I am going to invite Trisher to have a party in my kitchen, whilst enjoying herself cleaning my oven.
I will follow LauraNorder’s household chore advice and Trisher and I can both empty some wine glasses ?

Trisher, I’m ready when you are ?

I have no favourite household chores

Teacheranne Sat 16-Oct-21 18:44:52

Hmmm, I struggling to think of one thing about housework that I like - no, nothing comes to mind! I started using a cleaner a few months ago so no longer do very much at all.

I spent today though on a task that I really detest, household filing! I lob paperwork in a box then go through it to file when I can’t fit anything else in the box. So, after a few hours of rooting through the box and sorting it into piles on the floor, I then found that the filing boxes were full so had to start culling those. I now have a huge pile of old bank statements, credit card bills, energy bills and other rubbish waiting to be shredded, a bin bag full of old leaflets and brochures and nice neat filing boxes going back five years.

I now need a rest before digging out the shredder and bit by bit reducing the stack of papers into a bin bag of tiny bits. It might be a few weeks before I finish as the shredder overheats if I do too much in one session!

None - not a single one!

Trisha57 Sat 16-Oct-21 18:17:23

I'm a very weird person - I love cleaning the oven! I view it as a challenge. How many bits can I take apart to get to the parts that other oven-cleaners cannot reach?!!!! I must admit that I sometimes take photos as I go along so that I can put it all back together again..........very sad!

I hate all housework. Someone once told me ‘ housework makes you ugly’.

NotTooOld Sat 16-Oct-21 17:57:30

I hate all housework and all cooking. I have to do it though as I also hate a dirty and untidy house. DH helps.

BlueSapphire Sat 16-Oct-21 17:53:46

Hate all housework, but if I had to choose, I'd pick hanging the washing out and cooking.

Nonogran Sat 16-Oct-21 17:50:12

I love sweeping the kitchen floor & washing it up. I love sweeping in my garden. I live ironing.
I hate cleaning the bath & sink. I do the toilet very regularly as I don’t mind that. Weird!

Yammy Sat 16-Oct-21 17:42:25

You must be joking a favourite chore none but I do them because I like a clean tidy house.
I don't mind hanging sheets etc out on a warm day and bringing them in smelling of the outdoors.
Like Patsy70 above I do like cooking and trying new recipes, though, the garden leaves me cold.
DD's have inherited it.

Patsy70 Sat 16-Oct-21 16:43:04

I dislike it intensely, and resent the fact that no sooner have you cleaned the house, you have to repeat it all over again. But, I like the house to be clean! I can’t afford a cleaner. Spend hours working hard in the garden, I also enjoy cooking, which I don’t consider to be a chore.

I hate housework....I'm not lazy...I will garden for hours and I do other people's gardens also....but housework is a pain in the proverbial..

hollysteers Sat 18-Sept-21 17:41:50

Without help in the house, I would turn into Miss Haversham. Am allergic to housecleaning but love my dishwasher and washing machine. I even like listening to them and seeing the clothes etc. rolling around in the drum.
What a godsend our machines are!

welbeck Sat 18-Sept-21 17:39:51

ironing seems potentially dangerous to me, and difficult, and unnecessary.
and would mean buying equipment.
so it's a no from me.

welbeck Sat 18-Sept-21 17:37:56

i don't think i've ever done ironing.
no wish to try.

AGAA4 Sat 18-Sept-21 17:27:02

Housework is an evil necessity, the least evil is ironing.

welbeck Sat 18-Sept-21 16:50:44

spiders will always find a way in to a house, they don't need to be carried in on washing.
they like to seek shelter when it is wet.
they keep off other less desirable creatures.
washing is shook with a smart snap before being carried indoors. no problemo.

Jane43 Sat 18-Sept-21 16:46:21

I don’t mind doing the laundry, cleaning out the fridge, hoovering and cleaning the hard floors with my Bissell Crosswave cleaner. I tolerate the rest of the chores and I hate cleaning the oven, cleaning windows, ironing and changing the King size duvet cover.

Casdon Sat 18-Sept-21 16:45:28

I love using the coffee machine, I don’t even mind cleaning it. Does that count?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Sept-21 16:39:47

I hate every household chore. Even cooking. The older I get, the more I resent time spent on any of them, but needs must. Would rather be gardening. Can’t bring myself to get a cleaner though.

mokryna Sat 18-Sept-21 16:31:42

Meant to quote Urmstongran Housekeeping observation.
