My number one is getting the vacuum out and hoovering, I find it very therapeutic ?. I can honestly say I’m no Freddie Mercury wanting to break free,

I hate all of it. Life’s too short. I paid for a weekly cleaner when I was working. Joy of joys - in retirement I find Himself likes to be ‘doing’ now he has more time on his hands - it would be mean to interrupt his domestic sorties!

As for me ... #lazygran ... this describes how I feel about housework:

My (French) MiL trying to show me up, said in front of the family, that she swept the floor after every meal, my 7 year old DD immediately pipe up ‘you must be dirty eaters’.

I just put my earbuds in and get on with it, listening to podcasts and audio books. I don't really thing about whether I enjoy it or not.

Same here.

The hoovering becomes a fast work-out as the noise drowns out the book that I’m keen to get back to.

I find washing up very soothing but it drain drys, I haven’t used the dishwasher for a lot time

Wouldn’t hang out washing because it’s the way spiders, hiding in the garments, get in the house.

Another vote for laundry, I love doing it and I love the smell of the freshly pressed stuff.
Recently bought a steam mop for my kitchen floor and as this now takes just a couple of minutes to do instead of what seems like half an hour of humping around a mop and bucket (it’s a large kitchen) this is a close second.

I love hanging out the washing on a sunny windy day and then watching it blow. Other chores are a chore..

Curlywhirly Sat 18-Sept-21 08:25:15

Really enjoy all aspects of laundry - washing, hanging out and especially ironing. I think it is because I had hardly any clothes when young and viewed them as something to be coveted and treasured - I can't bear to see clothes not looked after!
I have to clean the house every day as we have a labrador and the shedding of dog hairs is relentless; but, luckily, I don't really mind most housework (I am a bit OCD about having a clean house) however, I absolutely hate window cleaning, dusting (moving all those picture frames and plant pots etc) and cleaning the oven .

To be honest I dislike the idea of most chores- but I am less likely to neglect the vacuuming ( stick) , laundry or cleaning the kitchen/ bathroom as they are easier shorter tasks, and can’t be neglected! Once I get started on a chore I’ve been putting off- like tidying a drawer or spring cleaning the oven, I usually get my teeth into it and enjoy it! Cleaning can be quite soothing.

I don't have a favourite.
I could tell you which I disliked least.

Nannagarra Fri 17-Sept-21 22:15:34

A George Formby here who likes cleaning windows, preferably when I’m not playing a ukulele.

Don’t mind hoovering or polishing , don’t enjoy anything else.
Messy house drives me mad though !

Lexisgranny Fri 17-Sept-21 21:35:12

Polishing - love it, with rearranging the contents of drawers a close second.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 17-Sept-21 21:25:58

I do my own ironing (OH does his) but I have a couple of Merry Maids to do everything else.

Jaxjacky Fri 17-Sept-21 21:17:22

We’ve chucked out GagaJo, do it about every 6 months, almost nothing in the loft, we have minimal furnishings, one double wardrobe each and clean lines everywhere. Having the kitchen redone almost a year ago meant we gave away loads of stuff. It helps that neither of us like clutter, ornate decoration or ornaments.

GagaJo Fri 17-Sept-21 20:51:09

I don't hate washing up. But I do hate drying up, so I NEVER do that.

I like hanging the washing out. I hate putting it away, but love it once the drawers are all tidy.

I don't hate cleaning the windows, but with my DGS living here, it's a thankless task, because they're smeared again before I know it.

I love chucking stuff out. I don't do nearly enough of that.

Which are your fav household chores? (

Isn’t that an oxymoron ?
(Like Military Intelligence, minor crisis, deafening silence · deceptive honesty · definite maybe · definite possibility · deliberate mistake · )

Indeed. Favourite ? Housework ?

Least hated rather. (Ironing) hate everything else

Jaxjacky Fri 17-Sept-21 20:30:10

The words fave and household chores do not go together here. Bathrooms are clean, kitchen is pristine. Hoovering once a week, dusting at the same time, ceiling cobwebs are sorted when I notice them, ditto skirting boards.
MrJ does the ironing, I bung washing in the machine and dry as necessary. It’s all a repetitive chore that I don’t enjoy at all.

Allsorts Fri 17-Sept-21 20:20:17

I like a clean house but wish I could wave a wand to have one.

NotSpaghetti Fri 17-Sept-21 20:17:21

Least worst option = hanging the washing out... NOT bringing it in!

welbeck Fri 17-Sept-21 20:12:40

I like hanging the washing out

me too.
it's the main thing against a flat.

Absolutely none!!! I really need to sort myself a cleaner before the spiders throw me out!

That really made me laugh. grin

Kim19 Fri 17-Sept-21 18:09:35

None whatsoever. Total slob but to acknowledge the spirit of the opener I would single out ironing. Very calming and always being entertained by either radio or telly at same time.

V3ra Fri 17-Sept-21 17:55:56

Does making coffee count? ☕

Sofa Fri 17-Sept-21 17:17:07

None!

LauraNorder Fri 17-Sept-21 16:55:21

I enjoy emptying the wine glasses
