So many of these houses have glass partitions with sheer drops beyond them. Is it just me but I couldn’t live with anything like that. I hate Juliet balconies made of glass, too. I need something solid looking between me and a sheer drop.

My son who lives abroad is moving to an apartment on the 11th floor next year and from photos it has lots of floor to ceiling glass, I already get the heeby jeebys looking out of his present apartment windows on the 5th floor so how I’ll manage in his new place if I ever get to visit again I’ve no idea. I’ll have to stay away from the glass. ?

Do agree, one flat I really liked I was put off as it was on 5th floor, and one window, in the dining area. was floor to ceiling. I knew that I would have to put a piece of furniture at that window if I lived there.

That would concern me if I had children at home but not otherwise. I do love houses with a view over the sea.

Did any of you watch the BBC drama The Nest? It was filmed in a very modern house on the edge of Loch Long with floor to ceiling glass all around. The views were stunning across the loch. It’s so close to the water it must feel like being on a boat.

It did cross my mind during every episode that I wouldn’t like to try to keep the glass clean. Between small GC’s finger prints and dog nose prints it would be never ending!

The house can be rented for £2k a week. I’ve attached 2 photos.

The front wall of my sitting room is all glass with a long drop the other side. Lovely views and light but we have a permanent work of dog 'nose art' at knee level.

We have a lot of floor to ceiling glass and glass sides to the stairs, and a lot of doggie nose art too! I keep Mr Muscle in business.

Many years ago I worked on the top floor of a very tall building in Newcastle. However, there were two buildings separated by a totally glass covered walkway. I had to enter building one, use a lift to the top floor and then cross over on the walkway to building two where I worked. I hated it and could not look down.

It’s the staircase ones that freak me out the most.

I like Grand Designs and Kevin McLeod. I don't like staircases that aren't against a wall. Some of them seem to have no visible means of support with just treads and no bannister rail. They may look very modern but they can't be very safe, especially for children or anyone with mobility issues.

We had a west facing clifftop house with floor to ceiling glass. Amazing sea views. A bit scary in the wind, especially at night when the glass moved so the reflection of the room appeared to be wobbling. Couldn't see a thing in the glare of sunlight from 3 pm onwards during summer and in winter the salt on the windows distorted the view. The seagulls clearly loved it as they left many comments.
If I ever wanted that much glass again it would only be on a north or east facing wall and not near the sea.

I lived overseas for a while and properties with these features are the norm. I have a terrible fear of heights, but you very quickly acclimatise. The roads terrified me for the first few months, but again, I got used to them.
