Hi folks

Would you mind telling me how much you pay for your broadband and landline?

I’ve just removed TV from my Virgin package, and they have given me a stupid price for my reduced package, so I’d really like to know what the norm is.

I’m just putting my shopping away - back soon.

Thank you! smile

With virgin. £27 per month. TV and Internet.
You don’t have to have a landline.
Just a little tip. If you feel that your internet speed is running slower, call them to check it. They slow it down ?.
Amazingly it reverts to speed your paying for.

I pay £19 with JL. Think you might be able to cancel under cooling off period rules???

£26.00 per month for unlimited landline calls and broadband with Virgin Media. I have no t.v. and so didn't need or want that package adding on.

Thank you so much everyone.
I’m definitely tackling it today.
I’ll let you know how I get on.

FannyCornforth remember to select the “thinking of leaving us” option when you phone them. They’re the team with the discounts. Before calling them it would be worthwhile googling for today’s current offers by some of their competitors such as BT and TalkTalk. Then they know you’ve done your research and will hopefully price match. Don’t be put off by the automated message saying high call numbers and suggesting you use their website instead. Good luck!

We have Unlimited Fibre broadband and line rental from Plusnet for £21.95 a month. No TV or calls because we don’t need them.

Yes, thanks Kim, I’ve looked at the details, and yes I can cancel.
It doesn’t even start until 26th January, so I’m not overly worried.

Thanks Gnw, I will do that. I’ll also mention that I’ve mentioned it on ‘social media’ (ie here!)

I’ve been with them for 16 years. It’s disgusting how they try to rip you off isn’t it?

I’m totally ignorant about broadband speed, and I think that it may be important as I’ve got a Sky Glass tv which runs off the internet.

I’ve read somewhere on the virgin website that if I leave them, I won’t be able to use my email address ([email protected])

Does that sound right??

I agree. It’s so annoying to see them offering deals to entice new customers which are half the price they try to charge loyal customers of many years. They tried to increase my package from £40 to £60 this year. So, I felt satisfied to negotiate downwards to £33 which was their new customer price that day.

When I left Talk Talk they said I could keep my email address, when I switched from BT they said I would lose it. I’ve still got both.

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 08:21:43

Apparently for my TV I need a minimum of 10mbps

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 08:22:26

Thanks Maggie

I'm with BT

Broadband, Fibre 1
Mobile, 4GB, included a new Iphone 6SE
Landline

£35 a month

Newquay Wed 29-Dec-21 08:55:08

DH is in charge of this so I have NO idea what’s going on -except we pay about £99(!) a month to Sky.
It’s a painful subject whenever I raise it-he keeps saying we can’t do any better!
Time to pull up my big girl pants and check it out myself!!

Pittcity Wed 29-Dec-21 09:02:07

It also depends on your address. A lot of companies advertise offers that I'd love to take up but our estate is not wired up to receive them.

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 11:10:22

Newquay £99 is exactly what I paid Virgin prior to changing.
It included all my landline calls; broadband; and the best TV package including BT Sport, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports

Smileless2012 Wed 29-Dec-21 11:14:19

Ours is £30 per month plus £15 for BT sport for Mr. S.

Grannynannywanny Wed 29-Dec-21 11:56:02

I can happily get by on the cheapest tv package with Virgin as my daughter has signed my tv into their Netflix and Prime Video accounts. So, I’ve got more than enough to browse. I’m restricted in choice of internet provider in my location but I don’t let Virgin know that when I’m quoting their competitors ?

glammanana Wed 29-Dec-21 11:58:31

I have been with BT for about 10yrs now and have landline/TV package/fibre optic broadband for approx £42 per mth.
I cannot get rid of my landline as it is connected to my careline I am due to renew my contract soon and every year I renegotiate with them on the threat of leaving I have always been lucky enough to keep it in the £40ish region.

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 12:05:44

I'm going in!!!

EllanVannin Wed 29-Dec-21 12:16:59

£48 a month with Talktalk. Just phone and internet so I think I'll be contacting them about deals as it's nearly doubled in less than a year.

Kathy73 Wed 29-Dec-21 12:23:00

Isn’t it a complete hassle, though, to have to change your email address?

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 12:25:51

This is awful?

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 13:08:49

On my fifth call now.
Call handlers in India haven’t got a clue, and then say that they will transfer me, and then cut me off.
It’s utterly shite

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 13:09:50

You’d be mad to sign up with them for anything
