Hi folks

Would you mind telling me how much you pay for your broadband and landline?

I’ve just removed TV from my Virgin package, and they have given me a stupid price for my reduced package, so I’d really like to know what the norm is.

I’m just putting my shopping away - back soon.

Thank you! smile

I pay £18 a month for broaband and land line. It was Post Office broadband but they are now Shell Energy. price the same £18. I go on one of the search sights each year for cheapest.

I have no extras on tv which I own....

mobile phone with Sky.. £3.25 a month includes all calls and texts.

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 13:11:01

Wow lemsip, that’s very good

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 13:13:14

I think that I’m being cut off again ?

Isn’t it a complete hassle, though, to have to change your email address?

If you change your email address to a generic one such as gmail, yahoo or hotmail, you do not need to change it when moving providers. I have two email addresses, one with yahoo for personal use and one with gmail for shopping, utilities, household things. That way, if I get emails on my yahoo account claiming to be from Amazon, my bank or any business, I know it is a scam!

Has anyone used Zen just out of interest, thanks.

FannyCornforth Wed 29-Dec-21 14:06:17

Broadband and land line with free evening and weekend calls. John Lewis [plusnet] £20 per month.

Esspee Wed 29-Dec-21 14:14:37

£41 for what Fanny?

grannyrebel7 Wed 29-Dec-21 14:22:53

We pay £92 a month! This is because DH has all the sports channels. Madness I know!

Esspee Wed 29-Dec-21 14:26:41

Thanks Sweetpeasue. Knowing that you got TalkTalk down to the £22.95 I am currently paying just recently means that I will most definitely not settle for more.
It is disgraceful that these companies try to take advantage of loyal customers.
I have a good deal with my mobile from Lebara. £5 a month for all landline and mobile U.K. calls and texts, 100 mins of international calls and 3 GB of data - all much more than I need. If anyone has a better deal I would love to hear about it.

Nothing wrong with that!
If that’s for Sky Sports etc, land line and broadband

£41 for what Fanny?

Landline and broadband Esspee

I’m with Sky for my TV (new swanky pants Sky Glass) which of course is a separate matter

Eventually I’ll swap to Sky for everything, but (ironically) didn’t want the hassle at the moment

Is your line rental included for £18 lemsip?

Sorry Esspee It's actually £23-50.
Still an awful lot better than the the 35 quid odd they were putting it up to until I objected.
What a pain all these contracts are.

Yes, it is inclusive...£18 a month.

You all make me feel SO useless!
I know we have a landline which DH says we MUST have-rarely receive calls on it.
We pay £94 pm to Sky-I have no idea what for!
Really must get paperwork out tomorrow-you have spurred me to get on with it! Thank you Fanny-don’t fancy actually doing it though! ?

Hetty58 Wed 29-Dec-21 23:49:08

£15.99 per month with Shell Energy. I swap often, with Uswitch, to get the cheapest deal, and will swap again when the 18 month contract runs out.

What do you get for that £15.99 Hetty?
Landline
Broadband at what speed?
What calls are included?

I am on hold to Talktalk at the moment.

Aveline Thu 30-Dec-21 10:06:26

We're with BT. Landline, high speed broadband with unlimited data, You View box, Netflix and NOW TV included £50 pcm.

Esspee Thu 30-Dec-21 10:10:35

Just been offered a faster speed broadband Fibre65 for £23.95 but calls chargeable unless to TalkTalk lines.
Better than the £31.26 they were switching me to but have said no so have been put on hold again.
This 25 minute call to South Africa must be costing them something. Will update when I have a result.

Hetty58 Thu 30-Dec-21 10:15:10

Esspee, line rental, broadband, no calls. Speed acceptable, a bit slow - but I really don't need (or want to pay for) superfast fibre.

Esspee Thu 30-Dec-21 10:35:15

That’s 45 minutes of my life I won’t get back but I have a result. YAY.
I have renewed my contract with TalkTalk.
It was £22.95 for landline, broadband and all calls to U.K. landline and mobiles and they wanted £31-26 to renew not including calls.
It will now be £1 more on a 24 month contract from the end of December and they have included all calls as before. (I think there is a 60 min per call condition but we never make long calls.)
It was like drawing teeth.
Good luck everyone who is currently being ripped off. It takes patience and persistence but it is worth it.

Esspee Thu 30-Dec-21 10:46:15

Thanks Hetty, sounds like you got a good deal for your needs.

We use Netflix (piggyback off son) so need good speed to prevent buffering and our calls to banks etc can be very expensive.

FannyCornforth Thu 30-Dec-21 11:07:17

Well done Esspee!

I was on the phone for two hours
I’m the end I spoke to a lovely lady called Susan. It really was a case of ‘computer says no’

I still don’t know if I have done the right thing.
The £60 deal included all calls anytime and super fast broadband (which I don’t actually understand).
Now, for £41 I only have free calls at the weekend, and my broadband is slower.
I know that I’m thick here, but what should I expect with slower broadband?
How does it manifest itself?
Can someone explain please?
