Vaccuum cleaner recommendations

We had a GTech for a few years then it needed replacing - the new one is not so good - I seem to have to be dismantling the roller brush part frequently to unclog it (no pets, mostly wood floors and rugs). It is nice and lightweight. One really needs the power of a Dyson in a lightweight machine…..

Because of the recommendations I have looked at Sharp lift away. Does that mean a separate hand vacuum is included or is it to be more help vacuuming stairs?

Shark liftaway is doing the job. Not as heavy as a dyson. Copes with rugs and wooden floors well. Manages with all the dog hair. Recommend it.

My flat is nearly all vinyl floor (Karmdean), plus two rugs, my bedroom carpeted . I have a a Gtech Air Ram. Absolutely wonderful. Light weight, so easy to store and to use, and to re-charge. Have had this now for nearly four years, previously in my house, where the little hand held one also did my stairs, and also so good for the car.

So simple to empty and Just one little easy to wash filter, never had any problems with this, handle goes down low for easy storage (I keep it at that level all the time). Excellent customer service for any questions, etc.

In the past I think I have tried most makes of of vacuum cleaners and it was not until I received this as a pressie from my kids in 2018, that I found the vacuum cleaner I had always wanted.

I love my Sebo - much better than the Dyson it replaced.

We have an upright Dyson and a cordless one, probably ten years old. The upright is far too heavy for me now (but floors is husband’s job!) and the cordless is on the way out. As an experiment I bought a Shark handheld on offer at Lakeland and it’s absolutely brilliant on stairs, upholstery and dog beds. So when I can persuade husband to release his grip on the big Dyson, it will be replaced with a Shark. As I have long hair, the anti-hair wrap feature is a real boon.

I have a Shark Liftaway - best hoover I’ve ever had. I’d previously had a Dyson and don’t rate them at all.

I’m slightly obsessed with floor cleaning stuff - had a Kirby, but that was massive, heavy and complicated. There were a couple of Dysons that performed well, heavy - so one upstairs and one down. Loaned to DD1 who attempted to pick up shards of plaster - not good.
Had a Sebo - brilliant, but loaned it to a friend who was moving away and never saw it again. Vax blade - ok ish, but the tube often blocks and backs up by something small - it drove me mad! Now it won’t recharge.
GTec Air-ram is now upstairs and works well on bedroom carpets. I’ve a foldaway Shark downstairs - so far, so good, as it can swap from carpet to hard floor.
I’m nearly as bad with appliances for my wood and tiled floors!

I have a Vax Rechargeable - cheap, cheerful, lightweight and does the job on my non-carpeted floors .

I have a G-tech Air Ram, it’s great. We have wooden floors and carpets.

No, I wouldn't get another Dyson, they are more like industrial cleaners and too heavy to manouver around the average home.
I got a lightweight re-chargeable one. Its not as efficient as the Dyson which I still have for the occasional 'deep clean' when I'm feeling energetic.
I've had a gTech and a Vax, both deal well with pet hairs and wooden floors and have some sensible tools. I imagine they're all very similar.

Have you a large electrical store near you where you can go and try some for yourself?
