Last train?

Update: DH was little taken aback when I read out my post, he "didn't know" I was making connection between trains and loss of GKs!?! It made me wonder if maybe I'd not said this loud enough to him(figuratively) his solution? Hilariously he suggested I take the longer smaller bedroom and he hasn't humongous boudoir and ensuite! .........I declined gracefully......no bloody chance!

can it go in a garage or shed or similar I must admit I love trains but maybe not as much as sleep

We have news of another baby due around Christmas from another DS and partner so not all gloom and doom , but still it's such a monstrous thing! And we really don't "play" any more. And thanks for the really good responses, seems I'm not the only train widow ??

I haven't quite understood the layout of your house OP. Can't the Train go into HIS room?

No, it's longer and narrower and has built in wardrobes so no room for it , but thanks for asking?

Perhaps your DH doesn't want to to see the end of it because it represents the end of any hope that he will ever have grandchildren to enjoy it. He may not even acknowledge this to himself .

After I left home I returned the following weekend to visit my parents. My bedroom had been cleared out and my dad’s model railway installed in there. That was me telt!

Do you belong to a local model railway society, Gabrielle or is there one around? Offering it to them might be a way forward. You could quietly enquire with them if they’d want it and then present your Dh with the news that you’ve found a home for it and it would bring more pleasure to,people than it’s bringing to you.

Ours started life in the garage then spare box room then conservatory. I helped with the modelling but life has more importance now than one thing. There was a request for it to go in the dining room no way! I suggested an insulated heated well lit man shed be built. So now there are still bits and bobs around but it is safely housed outside in its new home.

My DF and I had a huge train set which latterly was set up in the loft of the family home. When my parents downsized to a one bed no loft flat it came to my home where my DH attached it all to a board and it lived under our bed when not being used. When we got a new divan bed which the set could not slide under, it moved to the DDs bed room. With everything firmly attached DH devised a pully system so that the board could be drawn up against the wall when not in use. Later it moved to his workshop and finally was gifted to Womens Aid for their playroom.
