Can opener recommendations please.

I have had various types of can opener over the years, electric, battery and manual, none of which has lasted long. My previously efficient soft handled manual one has started to miss bits, this morning resulting in me splashing tinned tomatoes all over the kitchen when trying to prise up the opened part of the lid.
Any suggestions please? I have rather weak hands due to RA, but not too bad.
There is a reduced price Kenwood on Amazon which I might consider.

We bought a Lantana 2 in 1 safety from Amazon, it takes off the whole lid on a magnet with no sharp edges, very happy with it.

Watching with interest as my current can opener, bog standard from Sainsburys, seems to be on its way out.

I have bad arthritis in my hands, resulting in being unable to close them properly. For about fifteen years I've used the OXO Good Grip can opener. After all this time it is still in perfect condition and it enables me manage to open cans without difficulty. Although I actually find that most of the cans I have come with a ring pull. I will have to buy a gadget for those soon. grin

I have a battery operated can opener. So easy - no effort needed.

I have a Kuhn ratchet canopener, which works by puching a lever back and forth, not turning a handle. It it much easier on the hands and it cuts without leaving a sharp edge. To take the cut lid off the can, it has a sort of tweezers on the side of the opener to grip the lid. Plus it has a hook to put into a ringpull to remove that.

It looks as though it is being replaced by a fancier (dearer) version with a magnet to grip the cut lid, but QVC seems to be selling them. www.qvcuk.com/Kuhn-Rikon-Ratchet-Can-Opener.product.816341.html There is a video showing how it works. The nice colours have vanished, there seems only to be black now. I suspect they are selling off stock because the fancier one is now on the market.

Pushing, not puching.

I have a JML battery operated can opener. It opens cans with a ring pull too. I sometimes have difficulty trying to open those.

Elegran, I hadn't heard of the ratchet type, which looks good. I have therefore ordered a black one.
Thanks to all for your responses.

I find it very good, Shysal but I couldn't get it to fix onto the can at first. You have to put it on right for it to grip - once you find the way you are OK.

We've given up. No tin opener of any seems to work efficiently, or not for long. So we try to buy tins with ring pulls - and we have a gadget for opening those which works really well.

I bought a battery operated one from Lakeland which I'm pleased with

I also have a Kuhn Rikon opener but think different to the one mentioned above. It great and has loads of gadgets on it too

I second the lantana 2 in 1. Simple to operate and lid lifts off easily with no jagged edges

I have an electric one it is so easy to use.

tesco have a good manual one, or JML are a good company.
got one that works by battery from john lewis; works ok but expensive.
i find lakeland charge a lot for items that are available elsewhere cheaper.

I have been looking for a good can opener for some time, had to get rid of my non- functioning and expensive kuhn rikon, initially from qvc and the older style. I have settled on lantana, thank you welbeck. 83% reviews on amazon and £11.95. The reviews did it and I have just ordered

whoops thank you lantana recommenders

Another recommendation for OXO. Open fully. Large soft grip handles and large turning knob . Very sharp.
