Brabantia bins

I really loved my one! Although expensive, it was so handy to use, never having to touch it. Eventually, I found a wooden plant mover (on wheels) that was a perfect fit for the base. It glides out of the way when I mop the floor. It stopped working, eventually, well past it's 10 years (dropped the lid once too often) - so I must get a new one!

Mine is about 15 years old, can't remember exactly. At the height of Covid I'd been waiting for weeks to receive the replacement lid clip, and was receiving apologetic emails from Brabantia & John Lewis Partnership. I phoned JLP and gave the old order number and the young girl said something that sounded like:

'Good morning Dame Joan' (!)

Now, was I thought to be Dame Joan Collins, or Dame Joan Bakewell? Turned out to be Bakewell!

I explained that I was plain Mrs River and asked when I'd be getting my bin clip

There’s a story about the late Queen ringing Peter Jones about having something sent round and, I believe, when asked where it should be sent, answered “Buckingham Palace of course!”

I bought one in 2007 when we moved house. The lid wouldn’t shut after 10 years so I phoned them and they sent a new one, it’s still going strong now. They seem a lot of money at the time but worth it.

I'm a great fan of Brabantia bins. At great expense I bought one for my son as a housewarming present. It's stainless steel but doesn't show fingerprints. He's not at all houseproud so when I saw how good it was I thought I could wheedle it back from him in return for a cheapy plastic job. He saw me coming though and refused to part with it, so I had to buy myself one. Ah, well ...

That’s great, I love firms with good customer service. I bought a Brabantia pedal bin a couple of years ago and it’s really good. I have it in front of two drawers that are under our built in fridge. I think someone (ahem not me!) has opened the bin when the fridge door is open. Consequently the lid now has a few little dents which don’t look so good. However it’s perfect otherwise so I’ll put up with them. I made the mistake of ordering the wrong liners the last time. I thought that the red pull round the top meant the same size but not so. These were a lot narrower and taller - and I bought two huge rolls. So I had to go and buy the right ones. I’ll be more careful next time. Anyone need liners for a taller slim bin? 🙄😄

I had one for ages too (about 20 years). They replaced the lid at one point. I got rid of it recently as it had been dented too badly, but it didn't owe us a penny.

My Brabantia Bin is still going strong after 16 years. It still looks new too. It sounds as though they have good customer service too.
