Karcher window vac

My friend raves over her window vac.
Do you have one, and do you like it?
I'm sitting here on a bright sunny winter's day and looking at the streaks I've left on the inside of my big picture window which I just cleaned last Friday.
I've tried everything, from warm water with a drop of washing up detergent to expensive sprays and creams. I've lived in this house over 50 years but have never got rid of the smears!
But nearly £100 for a Karcher seems 'way over the top .........

I have one and it is brilliant. Can't say I use it very often but when I do I get good results.

Smileless2012 Mon 16-Jan-23 11:09:24

Wouldn't be without mine as it cuts down the time spent cleaning windows by half.

Ilovecheese Mon 16-Jan-23 11:24:47

Yes, love mine. I don't use the special spray, just ordinary detergent then vacuum away with hand held Karcher.

I appreciate mine very much as I have some big windows. I paid between £40+£50 for mine a couple of years ago.

It is the only way I can have streak-free mirrors and windows.

Just used again as the condensation built up overnight. It's such a neat little gadget and works so well.

I use our hand held Karcher in the bathroom, to dry the shower screen. Brilliant.

Here’s one that isn’t £100.

Love mine but use it for clearing the condensation on old single glazed sash windows

I love ours. Windows clean, streak free, we can sit and look out over the garden. Only on interior to windows, exterior are cleaned professionally.

Had one for years and really like it and wouldn't be without it (I have a LOT of windows!).

But £100?!? No way.

Visgir1 Mon 16-Jan-23 12:00:20

Have a look on Amazon.. Starts around £50...love mine.

ExDancer Mon 16-Jan-23 12:04:12

Thanks MerylS, I looked on Amazon but missed it.

My son bought me a karcher window vac at least five years ago and I use it almost every day in winter. They are marvellous. My home gets condensation and used to get mould. I never get any mould now .
As for the cost I really don't know, but I suspect far less than £100.

henetha Mon 16-Jan-23 12:29:37

Ps. Just checked. There's loads out there at prices ranging from £15 - £50.

LadyGracie Mon 16-Jan-23 12:34:11

I didn’t like mine at all until we had the really cold snap, it was so much easier to rid the windows of condensation.

Witzend Mon 16-Jan-23 12:39:17

Dh bought one and at first was very keen on using his new toy for the insides of our windows, which came up brilliantly.

Since then, alas, he seems to have forgotten all about it. I don’t even know where he put it - that’s my excuse, anyway.

Unfortunately our Karcher broke after about 18 months. We bought an 'own brand' almost identical product which works just as well and has been going longer.

We live in a very hard water area so still have streaks on windows, no matter how they are cleaned or with whatever conduit we use (especially noticeable on our SW facing windows in bright sunshine which is really annoying after all the work involved!).

Overall, I could recommend them as a gadget worth having.

I love my Karcher, use it on the shower screen as well as the windows. I also used it to suck up some excess water from the fridge last week as DH had blocked the little hole at the back which created a flood every time I pulled the salad drawer out.

ParlorGames Mon 16-Jan-23 13:54:05

Would you friend be prepared to lend you theirs to see if you can get on with it? I appreciate that not everyone likes to lend things out but no harm in asking is there?

crazyH Mon 16-Jan-23 13:55:37

I have one but hardly use it - just lazy !

Doodledog Mon 16-Jan-23 13:58:58

We have one (I say 'we', as I bought it for Mr Dog one Christmas grin). I like it - it's good on the shower screen, and on the huge mirror we have in the hall.

It's the one with the separate spray bottle. I didn't pay £100 for it though.

Bridie22 Mon 16-Jan-23 14:40:32

Love my karcher, excellent clearing windows and shower screen.

Norah Mon 16-Jan-23 16:26:21

We have many beautiful old single pane windows. Karcher clears inside water streams on chilly days, quite well.
