Our new build home gets very warm in summer due to all the insulation. Great in winter but a nightmare in summer. Can anyone recommend a fairly cheap room cooler. Thank you.

my neighbours, also new builds, have sash windows and both keep top and bottom open all day if they are in, their houses face south. Must be like an oven in there as they only have normal cotton blinds

I had my dyson pedestal fan on full blast for an hour last evening, Two sets of windows open and the fan sucking air out of the bedroom and exhausting to outside, through the biggest window and also then bringing cooler air in through the other open window. It certainly made my bedroom comfortable for sleeping

Thanks for all your suggestions. At least the dog is happy on his cool mat.
I’ve got lots to work with there and with give all the ideas a go.

I bought one of those dog cool mats a few summers ago for my chair. My daughter came by and said she was thinking about buying one for her dog so I lent her mine to see how he got on with it before she bought one and I haven’t seen it since 🤣

Window awnings on back of home and air con, we're comfortable.

Dogs have cool mats and a pool for before/after walking.
