Try perfect fit blinds .. I’ve got them on my bedroom windows and my sister has them on her patio doors. They fit on to the glass no screws required. They are wonderful .

This has given me a few ideas. I've just moved into a ground-floor retirement flat which leaves the bedrooms a bit exposed when the curtains are opened. I had thought of vertical blinds, bit can't imagine how they could be fitted. I will ask around and find out what others are doing about it.

You can get blinds that fit into the plastic seal.
Just google blinds for UPVC windows and they will come up.

I had perfect fit blinds put on my UPVC French Doors and side panel windows. Cost the best part of £500 four years ago, but it does shade the windows from the south facing garden.
I only had the single type, the double type can harbour insects which I was told were difficult to remove. Apparently you need to use a suction type cleaner.
I bought mine in Dunelm, who came out to measure and fit the blinds. Very satisfied.

We have just ordered Venetian blinds for our large full length lounge windows. They are being fitted by a well known company and will have brackets fixed to the lintel.
I would think you are correct about the warranty if you screw into the new upvc.

MayBee70, same here, 1930s money pit place - where any repairs or improvements inevitably lead to a trail of previous botch jobs and (unwelcome) surprises.

A neighbour has new windows with narrow Venetian blinds between the panes of glass - expensive but dirt-free and practical. I really do love them!

I’ve got a problem with my lintel as well. In fact, when I have the window fitted I may have to have a new lintel fitted, too, which is going to cost a fortune. Every problem in m house leads to another problem. I was going to have a new porch but it now seems that I need to have the asbestos removed from the garage roof and an extra row of bricks added sad

Why not check with the installer/manufacturer of your windows? Our Venetian blinds fit into brackets screwed into the ‘ceiling’, guess it’s a lintel, over the windows. However our conservatory has roller blinds with fitments screwed into the upvc frame as the conservatory supplier issuing the warranty assured us it was ok.

So, I’m having to have two new bedroom windows and am replacing the wood with upvc. My windows are huge and I have Venetian blinds for privacy. But I’ve realised that I’m not supposed to screw anything into the upvc. I feel like I’m in a goldfish bowl when the curtains are open. My handyman says it’s ok to screw the blinds back in but I daren’t risk ruining the warranty. I’ve noticed that one of my neighbours has blinds up: I may ask them how they’ve been fitted. I may have to somehow incorporate net curtains into the other curtains or at least have blackout linings.
