I currently have several bags of clothes, bric a brac etc all along the landing. Have been having a turn out. Charity shop calling tomorrow to collect it all.......I still have more to sort though!!!
News blackout on Old Bailey Starmer arson case.
We all know about Spring cleaning, whether we do it or not, but what about Autumn cleaning?
We’ve had three months of the focus mostly being on the garden and outside in general, plus little energy to do much at all perhaps in the heat, and I feel inside has been neglected.
So my first job will be a thorough clean and reordering of the fridge - the freezer is a bit daunting, but maybe that too.
And I’m booking Ovenu to do my range cooker.
That should do for starters.
What would you tackle first?

There's absolutely no point in me having an Autumn-clean as my daughter and three grandchildren have partially moved in until they can find another place to live.
It might be a case of having to wait until the Spring.
I try to keep things in order as I don't have energy for a big clean. Little and often, as much as possible. We sort things for charity end of summer and tidy clothes.
My main thing at this time of year is the change in clothes. So whilst I am bringing out jumpers and thicker trousers etc I try to have a check through and give away or get rid of stuff. Have to be in the right state of mind to attempt it though!! Any good weather days at this time of year are far more important to go outside whilst I can. Enough horrible weather ahead to think of sorting stuff out then.

My problem is that i start with enthusiasm then find something much more interesting to do, so I have half a kitchen with pristine and tidy cupboards and half not. Likewise, bedrooms cupboards.
I do try to keep to a routine, otherwise stuff I hate doing would be forever put off.
Who mentioned kitchen cupboards?
Oh yes, Whitewave!! 😁
I'm exhausted and all I've done is clear out two (double) kitchen cupboards, and put some things back tidily but now have a bin bag full of old baking tins, biscuit and pastry cutters, another with plastic lids (can't find the bottoms), and some new plastic items which obviously belong to a kitchen appliance but I don't know which or what they're for.
It's a start
Autumn cleaning? I don't think so.
Last week it was boiling here so just about everything got washed. Throws, cushion covers, bedding and duvet coats and jackets which came up like new.
Tip for keeping spiders at bay. Put a few conkers on your window sills. It really works!
Just take your glasses off and everything looks much better Oh and perhaps spray the cobwebs silver. I like that idea good suggestion
Blimey, the peppermint soap had better work because my house smells like toothpaste and I'm not a fan. I think I'll try lavender in future. There were three little spiders in the bedroom. Now there's just one big one, which means that Sidney has probably eaten Susie and Stanley and as soon as he gets low enough for me to catch him he'll be out. I have noticed he has stayed in the area by the door, the furthest he can get from the peppermint windows. Now I'll see if any news ones appear in the next week or two.
My mantra has always been if a thing brings me neither enjoyment or money then I dont do it.
I hate housework. Thats why I employ a cleaner.
I washed the sofa throws and cushion covers last week and our living room smells much fresher now.

I never plan housework, just do the bare minimum when necessary. However, I did shampoo the living room carpet yesterday, but only because the cats keep eating grass and sicking it up when I am not watching.
This is my motto:
My husband used to love cleaning the carpets in our old house, they were still like new after 15 years when we moved. But here we have wooden floors everywhere and have never got around to putting down our rugs, so cleaning is very simple.
My daughter has one of those robot vacuums which seems to work quite well and cleans right to tthe edges.
I've had a bit of a blitz on the contents of my kitchen cupboards and am planning to run down the food in the freezer too. It's easy to end up with too many tins of fruit or tomatoes, or packages of sausages or chicken in the freezer. Just reorganizing everything has given me more room as I've sorted the tins into smart transparent storage containers which I can move about easily.
I've also gone through my pile of bedlinen and got rid of some old spare pillowcases which are looking a bit battered and discoloured. I've also given away some duvet covers which I've not used for ages now we have less bedrooms.
Does anyone else find that linen starts to smell weird when it's stored for too long? A good hot wash has perked most of it up somewhat.
The blessed blinds which I keep putting off - today included !
IF I was so inclined then I'd start by cleaning out the kitchen cupboards but the job that needs doing the most is cleaning the wooden beams which involves climbing up the stepladder and manoeuvering around larger pieces of furniture not something I enjoy.
The Ovenu people have just left. Lovely shiny oven. That might be my autumn cleaning completed. I do like the sound of peppermint soap to keep the spiders away.
Reading your comments has inspired me to stop procrastinating and start with the kitchen cupboards, tackling loads of dust behind very heavy furniture next...seems a thankless task as have two border collies that moult and bring in mud and dirt every day 😄
Had a clear out of fridge/freezer/ food cupboards before coming away on holiday. Also put most of summer clothes away. When we get back there will be several wash loads to sort out, then I'll be ready for Autumn. Will also need to change throws and cushions in conservatory and put away the sea sidey stuff. Cleaning just goes on as usual- when and where it needs it.
A coffee - good luck - or even treat yourself to professional cleaners and let them do it for you.

Likewise!
I have sorted out stuff which needs to be passed on or thrown out and it is sitting in bedrooms while I dither (put my head in the sand).
Then go and do something more enjoyable, like using up my yarn stash, tidying the plants in the garden etc.
For some reason, and despite grandchildren all being passed school age, I have a true ‘back to school mentality’. The beginning of each school term sees me doing some extra cleaning, and de-cluttering. I confess to being a bit of a neat freak anyway, but I put that down to laziness, if I keep everywhere tidy there is less effort in the long run. luckily, DH is that way inclined as well and we both find this system very satisfying though I realise it doesn’t work for some.
I have to keep my house spotless every season because people always come and stay in it while I'm away, like now! 😂

Funny, we were just having a chat about that at work. Housekeeping over the summer meant keeping to minimum standards! Now that more time is spent indoors, there are a few items around that need attention.
Baseboards and trim need a good wiping, as do the tops of the kitchen cupboards. These are on my list. I gave my kitchen floor a good scrub, not just a run-over with a mop, and I can see the difference. I'll pick a room every few days and give it a good going-over.
