I posted up a question yesterday on GN about a Laura Ashley slow cooker, and came across it today on the Internet when trying to research it. It even had my mistype in the subject heading. How embarrassing😕. Ha ha never mind.

They should pay you royalties 🤠

That's why I changed my user name on Gransnet. The previous one was pointed out by DD to be an exotic dancer, to put it mildly from Leeds.DD had found some of my posts about scones or something mundane among all the sequins and bare flesh.

Here's what I found:

Yes, everything can be googled.

If any one Googles my user name they had better be prepared as I ramble . Better than counting sheep to get too sleep😁

I have done the same thing op.
Was asking something about a health issue.
Later goo gled about the same issue, hoping to find an answer, and my post popped up.

When we write things, even on Gransnet, we are publishing. What we write can stay on the internet, even on a general goggle search, for years.

Just had a look no none of mine there obviously not as interring as a slow cooker 🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious

I just goo gled BlueBelle slow cooker, and your thread about a Wonder bag came up.

NotSpaghetti Wed 13-Dec-23 07:52:05

What is a Wonder Bag?

nanna8 Wed 13-Dec-23 07:55:39

Sometimes it pays to use an unimaginative name. I used to be a mod for an online group and my username used to crop up, learnt a lesson then.

What is a Wonder Bag?

I dont know but you posted on the thread grinit is one word and not two as i have written here].
Has anyone tried a wonderbag aug 22.
The 4th post on it talks about a slow cooker, so presumably why it showed up when I googled.

fancythat Wed 13-Dec-23 07:59:12

I have just googled nanna8 royalties and your post shows up. !st on the list.

NotSpaghetti Wed 13-Dec-23 09:05:07

Oh yes, my daughter has one.
🙄
Silly me!

lemsip Wed 13-Dec-23 09:30:35

silverlining48 Wed 13-Dec-23 10:45:59

I just googled my user name didn’t include GN and up popped some of my posts .
As well as stuff about curtains!

Fairycakes Wed 13-Dec-23 11:07:39

Imagine how many people around the globe are reading our posts 🤭

fancythat Wed 13-Dec-23 11:15:50

It is a bit mindblowing.

fancythat Wed 13-Dec-23 11:17:04

Nowadays, whenever I have a question about health or cleaning products or something, I put in the question, and put Gransnet and Mumsnet after it.
Amazing how much information there is from both sites.

Bella23 Wed 13-Dec-23 11:18:48

Just had another look at mine, I'm lucky someone I will not name knows, a donkey called Bella.grin. Watch what you write ladies someone will twig and publish "The Thoughts of Grumpygrans", or something similar and make a bomb.

Whiff Wed 13-Dec-23 15:20:37

Fairycakes I just Googled my username . Not very flattering all the definitions of it but no link to GN. It's what my husband called me . He used to call out hello Whiff and I would shout hello hubs when he came home from work everyday. Really miss that so that's why I wanted it for my username. For those that don't know me my husband died in 2004 aged 47.

fancythat Wed 13-Dec-23 15:51:31

I just googled Whiff Gransnet and all sorts of things come up.

fancythat Wed 13-Dec-23 15:52:38

Very sorry to hear about your husband's very early death. That must have been, and still is, a tough situation.

Bella23 Wed 13-Dec-23 16:01:03

Sorry to hear about your husband's early death that must be with you forever.
