Need to share my achievement

Good Morning Everyone

Just wanted to share something with someone.

After a long divorce I purchased my own property in October & have been busily updating/renovating it whilst working full time ever since. I’m so happy to say I’m having the last couple of carpets fitted today & can now take my foot off the gas lol. At 52 I’ve discovered DIY skills I never thought I had & I cannot believe how proud of myself I am (hence the share). With mental health issues I do find it hard to give myself any credit, but I am really going to try to soak this all up & digest just what I’ve achieved. Sorry if this post is a little different but I feel like shouting from the rooftops lol x

You deserve to shout it from the rooftops, well done you. It's often hard to feel proud of our own accomplishments. You're living proof that most of us are capable of doing so much more than we think we can.

Well done you.

Its taken for granted that men feel proud of their achievements but women are encouraged to be modest and "hide their light under a bushel".

Whatever a bushel may be.

Yeah, right.

There is a lot to be said for knowing your skillset and at the same time being honest about what needs to improve.

Well done.

You have done very well. Congratulations! I remember the sense of achievement after divorce, managing everything on my own after being married for over 20 years, since I was a teenager.

ceejayjay brilliant achievement.🥂 My DIY skills are limited. About year after moving here I brought myself a rechargeable screwdriver will lots of bits. At the ripe age of 62 made my first flat pack just a bedside table, tops a bit off centre but only I know. Then I made a flat pack shoe rack which I use as shelving for boxes with craft stuff in. Took me 3 weeks before I realised I put 2 of the legs upside down 🤦. Easy fixed.

My husband always said I had a black thumb . Turns out I have a green one. But plants in my garden have 2 chances live or die. I am a widow but hate the term late husband as he was never late in his life. I usually say dead but it upsets some people no idea why. I even brought myself a greenhouse and can't wait until I can plant my seeds later this month.

Never put your achievements down and be very proud of your independence and resilience ⭐

Well done you, I’d say! Enjoy your lovely new home. 🏡

Learning new skills is a great boost, I find. It keeps the grey matter in good form and gives our confidence a fillip. 👏 👏

Absolutely marvellous. Well done you. I did the same in this house top to bottom but it took me two years. You are a wonder woman. I'm very happy for you and thanks for sharing. Quite made my day........

What a lovely feel good post, well done, you are so right to be proud of yourself.
I divorced in my 30s, working full time with 2 small boys to bring up. I had little spare money so had to spruce up the house myself, painting kitchen cupboards, furniture, decorating etc...
Now I'm retired, the kitchen is looking dated and shabby, but I still don't have oodles of cash to spend on a new one. I do have time to have a go at renovating it myself though, so that's my project this Spring.
