Cleaning skirting boards

I think it's best not to look too closely.

I have been on my hands and knees to do the kitchen and dining room. The lounge I will do when I feel the need to move the furniture. I haven't done that for some time. The hall is so stacked with boxes that not much skirting is showing. Having looked I will give what is on show a clean. The cricket bag that lives in there is going into the garage. The bathroom skirting is done when the floors are cleaned it's the plastic sort and there isn't much.

I use a damp micro fibre cloth I give them a wipe from a standing position my knees won't standing a lot of pressure since messing them up last year cleaning an extremely large porcelain patio of grout haze

I use Flash wipes when I can be bothered to do it but it does involve bending down.

I don't think I can change them all to plastic.

The style of mine is called torus so they have quite a few ins and outs to clean.

This is not my actual skirting board grin

I was just going to congratulate you on pristine skirting boards too😂

Microfibre

Autocorrect must like American English.

Not a problem which I worry about too much, but when I decided that getting down on my knees was becoming too painful I bought a couple of those old fashioned string dish mops from the local wonderful, sells everything hardware store. Using them involves a little bending, but it's better than kneeling...

Yes, this or one of those microfiber mops.

Otherwise a microfiber duster on a stick. I have one from IKEA but it's years old, the covering comes off and goes in the washing machine.
A bit like these:

Long handled soft brush or cobweb brush, if I bother.

No, I don’t look at them. They are all natural stained wood and don’t show dirt. They’re probably filthy! I vacuum round and mop the wooden floors, that’s enough for me.

I use a feather duster. Rarely find they need more than that.

Google microfibre skirting board cleaners - lots of handy tools there to save knees! Damp dusting with a microfibre cloth will thoroughly clean higher surfaces without too much effort 😉

Cleaning skirtings is something only attempted when bottoming a room or hallway🤣🙈.
I’m using the don’t look approach - three months recovery from right shoulder break )I’m right handed). And last week abdominal surgery. The skirtings remain untouched
Long feather duster for dust but if you live with dogs more needed. Sadly my dogs don’t help with domestic stuff they just cause it

Calendargirl - 😂

When we had our bathroom 'updated' they replaced the wooden skirting boards with plastic ones.
Now, I hate all this plastic we're using - but cleaning the skirting boards is a doddle so am I recommending them?
Yes, I think I am.

Calendargirl Mon 24-Jun-24 11:02:54

Don’t look!

crazyH Mon 24-Jun-24 10:59:31

I was just looking at mine and I sighed …..

Does anyone have a method for cleaning skirting boards that doesn't involve getting down on my hand and knees?

I ca do the dust with the extension on my vacuum cleaner but even that isn't great. Sometimes they need more than just a dust.

Thanks
