Anyone bought a portable vacuum?

Has anyone bought a small portable vacuum the sort you charge up? They seem great for cleaning the stairs as I struggle with this with my old upright vac as the hose keeps popping off. I've seen 2 advertised Black and Decor and Shark. Anyone know if they are good? Oh and do they get dog hair up as our dogs are not allowed upstairs but do run up them quite often to see where we are, with one sleeping on the bottom stair!

Dyson & shark, prefer shark, better battery life, I find, plus 5yr warranty

I’ve got a Shark portable Vac too and it’s great for doing stairs.

G Tech all the way - an 'upright' for carpet/bathroomtiles/wood floors, and little one with lots of 'ends' for stairs and pokey places. Both keep a charge long enough (smallish 4 bed home) are easy to use and empty. I think we got them on a 'bundle' price from QVC.

I have just noticed that on the money saving expert website there is a special deal for a hoover hand held vacuum. Might be worth a look.

I love my cylinder Miele which I’ve had for 20 years at least. I have a Shark cordless upstairs, but the thing to remember with battery vaccs is that they have a limited lifespan and only really function well in the first couple of years, depending on usage of course. I think it’s wasteful having to discard after 4 or 5 years.

I will be forever grateful for the day I spent a few $’s and bought my Dyson rechargeable, lightweight, “extra super suction for pet hair” stick vacuum.
It saved my life!

It was costly but one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I no longer use my Hoover upright - too big and clumsy. The Dyson is nimble and can get in and under and around spaces a regular vac can’t do. You can go from carpet to hardwood floors like magic. One charge lasts about 20 mins, enough to do my whole space without breaking my back! Easy to clean out the receptacle too.

I also have a Shark - waste of money. Keeping the Hoover but I hate the bag replacement. It has the extender hose with attachments which are valuable.

Dyson stick vacuum will change your life! (Good for stairs too!!)

The Air Ram one suits me because there is no weight on the stick. Both Shark and the Dyson have the motor on the stick, which I found made them awkwardly weighted. The G Tech one has that weight on the bottom, which makes it easier to push.

The picture of the G Tech includes the handheld gizmo, but it doesn't attach to the upright - it is totally separate.
