Decent pillows!

Had a quick skim through and can’t find any posts recently regarding pillows although I feel sure it must have been asked before.
I need to invest in some decent pillows as I am fed up with them sagging in the middle, the fillings ending up in one place despite shaking and generally being uncomfortable. Myself and DP have both had bad necks recently and I’m sure it’s due to the horrid pillows.
I have always bought mid price range thinking they would suffice.
Whilst I don’t want to pay ridiculous prices, I am happy to pay a bit more than I previously have.

Please help! What are your best buys?
Thanks

J. L feathered special buys. I can shape them as I need. I put two Egyptian cotton pillow slips on each one for protection. On the pillow tags I write the year I start to use them so I change them every few years.
I shake them well every morning and air them separately at the foot of the bed for the morning. Google says they will go yellow because of moisture.
Oh, my goodness I don’t make my bed in the morning but leave it to air till gone midday.

I use memory foam shaped pillows from Dunelm. Prices range from £20odd upwards. There are different ones depending on whether you are a side/front/back sleeper but I find the back sleeper one great even though I sleep on my side. Could not use anything else.

I used to use very well stuffed down pillows but we both now use firm support microfibre pillows from King of Cotton. I actually prefer these to down myself now.

My Groove Pillow has totally mended my sore neck! Husband and daughter now have one and love them too. www.groovepillows.co.uk/

I tried a pillow from MyPillow and have never regretted it. They were on telly and it was said that they are very 'marmite' but I absolutely love mine. www.mypillow.com/

Tempura pillows came free with our (extortionate but worth every penny) mattress. They're ever so heavy so I thought I'd hate them, but they're brilliant, so comfortable and cooler than our down ones that we liked previously.

Try either Jysk Nordic or Ikea and buy pure cotton pillows with feather stuffings, unless you are allergic to feathers. You may well find that two pillows, the upper as described above and the lower of memory foam are best for your neck and back.

Wash, spin and tumble dry the down filled pillow once a year.

I have Dunelm ones and a really recommend . I usually wash them in the washing machine then fluff them up and dry flat in the sun with frequent turning

Sorry to tag on but does anyone have experience of memory foam pillows? Would they help?

We’re on our 2nd Tempur mattress. Last time, about 8 years ago, we also bought their pillows & they’re perfect for us.

Try Derila pillows. Mine is really good for my neck & shoulders. Also do pillowcases that are ok too!

The only pillows that work for me are GX support pillows, they are mid price and have a central strap system that stops the filling bunching up. I find the one that suits me is the medium one. I have bought , goose down, eiderdown, feather, feather and down and every type of pillow you can find, I've spent £100s on pillows but nothing works like the GX.

I'd just like to buy some that will wash without bunching up. I can't have wool or feather as I'm allergic to both and have dust allergy. Anyone know of any synthetic ones that actually keep their shape when washed?

We have Dunlopillo latex ones, never go out of shape, very comfortable and allergy free, they go with us when we stay with relatives!

I am on my second lot of Dunlopillow latex which are wonderful. However, I feel mine will need replaced soon, and I’m not sure they still make them.

Since staying at a golf/bowls complex in Dorset and both of us having a good nights sleep we asked where they bought their pillows from, they advised Mitre Linen, we bought amd are very satisfied with what we got and are still using 5 years on,
They are not expensive and extremely good quality

I saw those Hungarian goose down pillows today in John Lewis. They cost £90 each so I doubt I'll be getting them.

My pillows get grubby and discoloured. How do you clean the down ones?

When we had feather/down pillows I used to put them through the washing machine, and fluff them up again in the tumble dryer.

I also now use two pillow cases on each pillow, a plain brushed cotton one and the normal one. I change both of them every time I change the beds, that seems to help keep the pillow itself clean.

V3ra yes, we have been known to stash a fold up bed in the car as well, plus bedding, for certain houses!

Glad it's not just me 🤣

I bought from Soak & sleep after seeing it recommended here last year. Most happy with my pillow purchase which was pretty much half price (for a set of four) last year.

Dunlopillo Super Comfort latex pillows are the best I’ve ever had and I was heartbroken when I finally ruined my last very old one in the washing machine. Now branded Relyon, they are around £90 each and I’ll never be able to justify the cost of another. I really hate down or feather pillows as they’re so uneven and sink, synthetic fillings are horrid (I have Habitat synthetic ones now), and any other latex pillows seem to smell so strongly it keeps me awake feeling sick. I like to use a single, thick, firm, cool pillow.

Another John Lewis fan here.

But pillows are very personal aren't they? I like to sink into my pillow, so goose and down are my choice. Anything else and I feel like my head is bouncing up and down!

B9exchange I take my inflatable bed, pillows and duvet when we go to visit a certain relative!
The bed we're allocated is tiny but my inflatable one fits in the room, so we both sleep comfortably 🛌🛏️

Organic buckwheat pillows are wonderful. You can manipulate them as much as you like to make them comfortable and they never make you head feel hot! They last for years, too.
