We’ve just bought a new bed with drawers underneath. Bliss, filled it up the day we got it.

My son has an ottoman bed, it came from John Lewis and was built already. I agree with what loopyloo said though, although there is a gas assisted mechanism to lift it, it’s not easy, because you are lifting the mattress up as well as the frame. You also have to take the duvet and pillows off before you can operate it. With hindsight I think drawers would be easier.

I bought a truckle or trundle, I can't remember which, that fitted under a pine framed bed. It slid out quite easily and I could hook it out and push it back with my foot. The only possible drawback was that it was quite low to the ground which required bending down quite low or sitting on a the floor to put in or remove things.

I find our Ottoman bed quite difficult to lift up and wish now we'd bought a light pine frame with separate underbed drawers on rollers.
That's also easier to clean under.
Also it was a nightmare to assemble.

I'm looking for a good bed which is sturdy and has storage under the bed for some items, ideally something like an ottoman but not drawers as they hurt my back, the husband doesn't have the ability as before to build anything so ideally prebuilt, does anyone have recommendations?
