On the last count I have 10 unused left hand marigold gloves in size medium. I always seem to get holes in the right hand for some reason….

No thanks I’ve got enough of my own! 😂

I assume it’s because I’m right handed? Maybe there are some left handed people with lots of right handed gloves left…😁

Turn them inside out and you have a right handed one.

Calendargirl Tue 25-Mar-25 14:18:29

Why not turn a good one inside out and make a new pair?

I know you end up with the (brushed) interior on the outside, but it makes another usable pair.

I'm just the same and have lots of left hand gloves and they are nearly all small and too tight now.

Yes, I turn them inside out too!

Thanks for the offer. I’m left handed but never wear gloves of any sort.

I do that but don't really like it for long. However I buck the trend as I am left handed but it always seems the right hand one goes first.
Just reflecting...most shops have own brands which are cheaper but Marigold still seem the best.

I’ll try turning them inside out 😊

Oooooh! Never thought of that 👍🏻

I do turn them inside out but they're not very comfortable.
I'm sure there would be a market for single ones - more eco friendly too

Probably the makers of Marigold don’t want to go down the ‘single’ route.

Better for business if we buy a new pair when one of them splits.

I sent away for several pairs of Marigolds a while back as I hate running out of them. Found that they get very sweaty inside when it's hot [I often wear them in the garden, too] so I now buy them in a larger size and wear thin cotton gloves inside. Also realised that they make special black gardening Marigolds, too, so I've got a couple of pairs of those. I worked in a laboratory when I was in my teens where our hands came into contact with some pretty nasty stuff [doubt if it would be allowed now] and my hands have been very prone to dermatitis since. I love my Marigolds. When my dog was a puppy she was always stealing them and running around the house with them. I think she associated them with me as I was always cleaning up after her [she was a nightmare to house train]. I hate the thin ones that you have to prise on and off.

I wear the black Marigolds instead of the yellow ones.

They are a bit more expensive, but stronger.

I buy black ones too instead of yellow. I also use them in the garden instead of gardening gloves.

You can get blue ones too for sensitive skin!

I’m just reading ,Lost for words, Deric Longden.
About his mum ( played by Thora Hird in the film)
Who sent him to the shop for a single rubber glove. She had Alzheimer’s and he thought she had got it wrong, but she’d had a long-standing arrangement with the shop owner, after she had bought a single one , of a damaged pair before 🥰

I love his Diana's story I think it was called about his first wife.

His mum sounded a right character and he was so talented at painting that picture of her I laughed out when reading. Such a good story.

I must look for Lost For Words.. Thanks for the reminder..

If you can find the film Granniesunite (I found it on YouTube but it’s gone now!) that really is laugh out loud 😀 and reading the book after I could hear Thora Hird in my head . Will look for Diana.
IKEA rubber gloves are great. £1 a pair too!

Here are some uses for the leftover Marigolds. Cut the glove across about an inch fro the cuff end and yiu have a very strong very large rubber band for BIG things like paper rolls, even small rugs - using two, etc.).
Then, cut off the index finger and you have a good protective , waterproof cover to put over a bandaged injured finger.
These have often come in useful for me

NotSpaghetti Thu 27-Mar-25 15:16:28

I slice the whole glove into "elastic" bands every so often (including the fingers). Useful for all sorts of things.

NotSpaghetti Thu 27-Mar-25 15:17:04

Obviously not until I've finished with them and given them a good wash!

gay18 Thu 27-Mar-25 15:20:00

What do you do with old brasses and tankards which have come out of the loft? Has anyone tried Vintage Cash Cow or Vintage Cash Cat?

mum2three Thu 27-Mar-25 15:22:28

LOL....same here. We all have one hand larger than the other. I don't know if this is why the holes only happen on one side.
