Just this as that surround at the end of the tap is covered with scale. I squirted cillit bang on it but that didn’t work. Has anyone got the answer? If so would appreciate any suggestions.

The HG limescale remover is good stuff. I also recently bought a sonic scrubber - which has also been great.

I have very hard water- I have to replace taps and kettles every few years so I am grateful for the tips here- especially the lemon left overnight one! I shall try this.

I now use a water filter for my kettle and it seems to work better.

Depending on what metal your taps are I wouldn't use vinegar as it is very acidic and could corrode the metal if used too frequently...

I find Steradent works well. just put a damp tablet in the scale and leave it overnight. The tablets work well cleaning loos too! Dead easy!

Good luck!

I use one of these. Just fill the rounded end with limescale remover and pop over the end of the tap.

Try citric acid. You can get it from Amazon for around £5 a pouch. I use it on my taps, sink and draining board which is black composite and in the kettle. Works for me.

To remove hard scale, try soaking a cloth in white vinegar and wrapping it around the affected area of the tap. Secure it with a rubber band or tape and leave it for a few hours or overnight. The acidity in vinegar should help dissolve the scale. Afterward, gently scrub with a toothbrush or non-abrasive pad and rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. For stubborn stains, you might also try using a baking soda and vinegar paste.

I find that Bar Keepers Friend is brilliant for removing limescale.
