Night Lark duvets

I'm a fan, and have been since I got the first one a few years ago. I wouldn't go back to duvets with changeable covers now.

I love them! I am in the process of passing on my old-style quilts and the associated covers/pillows cases so I’m gaining more space in my cupboards, too.

I don't understand the difference. Could you just not put a cover on the existing quilt and use a top sheet.

The point is that you don't need a cover. It is part of the duvet and you wash the whole thing. They dry in no time and can be back on the bed in a couple of hours with no need to change the cover.

I love mine and use 4.5 tog all year round. I wear thicker PJs in the winter!
I didn't buy the matching pillowcases as we prefer cotton, so we have contrasting colours.
No more wrestling with duvet covers and so easy to wash and dry.

How often do you need to wash them?

I’ve just been looking at the M & S website for a new lightweight duvet and came across the Night lark ones. Unfortunately they’re all out of stock. They sound perfect for the warmer weather.

But then you need to buy flat sheets and wash them instead plus periodically change the duvet cover.

Aveline you can wash them whenever you want. I do it weekly in the warmer months and stretch it out to ten days/two weeks in the winter. Or just turn it over.

I bought my first from John Lewis and the next from Fine bedding.

I love my Night Lark coverless duvet too. I wash it when I think it needs it as I also use a top sheet and it dries in no time. I put off changing the spare bed duvets as they still need covers and I am done with wrestling with these.
PS the matching pillow cases are useless.

Night Lark coverless duvets are great for visiting grandchildren. I was dubious about washing them but it's straightforward. I think they are a great invention!

Mine says to wash every couple of months, so that is what I do! I am not engaging in nights of wild passion!

I am on my own in a double bed - I bought two singles and will put one on top of the other in the winter.

They truly are as light as a feather and wash and dry in a flash without getting lumpy at all. I no longer have to wrestle with covers, nor get quilt to dry cleaners every now and again. I love them.

Apparently they are made form recycled plastic water bottles!

Today I bought two singles as I now have my teen GS’s staying very regularly.
They do shower every morning but have that “ teen boy smell” so even after a weekend I feel their beds need changing.
I do not do this myself, their father is in charge but I supervise.
I think it will be so simple now ,the boys can do it themselves.

Unfortunately I tend to suffer from nosebleeds and sometimes get blood on the duvet cover as well as the pillowcase. So duvet without cover probably not suitable - shame

Have had these for some time now & would not be without them. Have two winter weight & both have been washed countless times, one on the bed the other washed & stored. Now have a summer lightweight one. Anyone doubtful about these please dont be as they are so much easier to use & wash!

Do they 'settle' around you like feather and down ones do or do they just settle on top of you like most synthetic ones?

I do like a bit of weight. I'm tempted to try one. On researching it after reading this thread there seems to be a huge disparity in prices. Is most expensive best?

Whilst I love the idea of not wrestling with a duvet cover, I’ve only ever had down duvets and pure cotton covers, so do these feel synthetic?

I bought one a few weeks ago and love it. Would certainly buy again!

The best duvets I have ever used, absolutely perfect. I do use the matching pillowcases and haven't found that they go out of shape at all. Everything is so easy to wash and dry.

Why do you think that they would not be suitable because of getting blood on them? It's so much easier to just put the whole thing in the washing machine. I wash mine at least weekly, sometimes more often because I love a clean bed. Coverless duvets are a game changer (as are robot Hoovers with mops but that's another story.....).

Mine settles round me. It is very comfortable, and washes and dries quickly. Just before I bought it, I bought a single coverless one of the same togs from Silentnight, to try them out - that one didn't settle round me It was very warm but left tunnels down the sides where the cold air got in. I think the difference was the filling. The shredded plastic bottles in the Night Lark ones are softer and more pliable. (The Silentnight one is fine for young adult grandchildren - they aren't as fussy as me)
