Problem with Fitted Sheets

Mine too are Dunelm, Primrose, I never noticed the useful tag. Half an hour ago I asked my son to use an indelible marker pen to print TOP three inches high on one of the short sides .

I buy ours from Dunelm. Their own brand fitted sheets in extra deep. They also have a tag inside which is VERY useful. It says single, double or king size and also top/bottom.

Two dogs were salivating very wetly on my bed this afternoon , someone gave them chews, and I had to change undersheet and mattress protector , before the permanent marker pens arrived from Amazon

No. I never iron sheets (I send them elsewhere to be ironed.)

I never iron them at all! Any creases soon drop out.
TBH the only bedding I ever iron any more, is pillowcases if guests are coming to stay.

Could you pin a safety pin in the middle of the top /bottom?

Caleo I'm pleased to say that those little clips come to no harm in the washing machine. I have used them for years on my tea towels

Most fitted sheets that I have encountered only have elastic at each corner so not sure what is difficult.
Folding them is another matter though😒

Same here Oreo. Fitted sheets dreadful things . Never mind fitting then on the bed, what about folding them up in the cupboard

I have the label on the bottom right, long side, as I stand at the foot of the bed. And stretch the sheet to diagonal corners, starting with the least easy to reach ( for me it’s top levy, then bottom right, top right, bottom left).

Modern beds are designed all wrong for flat sheets. Using wooden slats instead of a sprung base (metal rim with bouncy "chicken wire" type topping) means there isn't enough friction when sheets are tucked in, to stay tucked in with the occupant on board. Also, the loss of the springy "chicken wire" means one needs a thicker mattress and Granny's pure Cotton, high grade Scottish weave sheets aren't wide enough!

I bought extra deep sheets to accommodate the mattress topper, etc. To fit it, I place it on the bed to sort out the top from the side and then pop it on the bed. The same applies when hanging it outside to dry. My bed is a double, as is the bottom sheet, but my duvet and covers are king-size.

My problem used to be fitting the duvet cover but my cleaner does that now!

Doesn't it have a label?
Almost all fabric products have a care and composition label permanently attached.
The label obviously goes at the bottom.
And it can only go so that the best or finished side is outermost. For you to lie upon.
I can't see the problem.

If you use the wrong pen on a white board, just go over it with the correct pen and it will wipe off. Magic!

The label is on a short "edge" on all of mine - so that's the top or bottom.

I make my own fitted sheets as commercial ones are never deep enough. And I also attach some coloured tape on the ‘short side’ so I always know that it’s either top or bottom.

I’ve recently had to buy deeper fitted sheets for a king size, after acquiring a mattress topper.

Ditto for an armless sofa bed always shared by the Gdcs. We’ve always used a quilted protector for padding, plus a quilted waterproof on top, in case of accidents. And until I bought the deeper sheet, we were having the devil of a job getting the bottom sheet on. Goodness knows why I didn’t think of it before!

Lathyrus3 I use the same method with all my fitted sheets (from King of Cotton) but I always put the label at the top right when you are lying down.

I don’t know if this works with other sheet manufacturers.

I thought the label was always sewn in the bottom left hand corner (looking from the top of the bed down as if you’re lying on it).

It’s always worked for me.
