Do any of you bother with pedestal mats in the bathroom?

I think of them as being unsanitary. I want to see any drips so I can wipe them up.

As it is, it is not a problem I have.

Can I suggest a correction?

I have been know to send my grandsons back to flush/ wipe up any drips. My husband sits to pee- as he says: why should you have to clear up other dirty people’s body fluids?

Invalids /the very elderly excepted, no one should leave toilet mess for someone else to deal with.

No pedestal mat but a warm mat at the front to put ones feet on.

if i lived alone yes but as I have a man with me nope not a chance. they used to be sold in threes the bath mat pedestal mat and a toilet seat cover. now does anyone use toilet seat covers any more

As one who is married to a "splasher" I find the pedestal mat a necessary addition. I got my matching set from Cotton Traders.

Civilised men teach their sons to aim straight, put the seat and lid back down, flush, and wash their hands.

I have never used them, I have large bathroom mats that cover those area. My downstairs loo has Amtico flooring plus my loo has a square base, I bought a select of square shower mat in bright colours, so not cold underfoot and my 4 year old grandson and 70 Yr old DH have areas covered.

We used to have pedestal mats. Tiled floors are so cold at night. Since the dog kept stealing them I gave up.

Carpet in the bathroom 😱

I just pull the bathmat across for me, then put it back by the shower (we don’t have a bath).

Two of my neighbours have carpets in their recently refurbished bathrooms! I have to confess feeling rather astonished.😲

Now that I live alone I can indulge my like of thick, fluffy mats and towels. I don't have men to mess everything up.

I hate pedestal mats .
I think that men need urinals or their own bathroom .
I keep my loo brush in bleach so it's always clean .

You don’t have to like them to use them!

I do actually keep a small neat one - purely for guests, then if used it gets dunked in bleach solution.

I absolutely hate a toilet brush. OH buys them and I ignore them. Filthy things.

and one ward I worked in ,,there were always dribbles in the staff toilet, and I was told it was a surgeon who was responsible
made me wonder what chance his patients had...if he couldn't aim right

I don’t have one in the bathrooms upstairs but I do have one in the downstairs toilet, which is washed and changed regularly. For various reasons, this toilet is used by many people as we host a church house group as well as having visitors at different times. About eighteen months ago, l noticed a strong smell of urine around the base of the toilet and realised that some male users were not always directing all their flow into the bowl. This was the point at which I realised that I needed a solution to the problem and bought a couple of pedestal mats. Thankfully, this seems to have worked and, if l notice an odour, it is much easier to wash the mat and it protects the laminate floor.

I used to work in a hospital as a cleaner...there never was a toilet brush...we had to have rubber gloves a course green pad and scrubbed the toilet .

oh , that's a good one....made me laugh...but I think you're right

Pedestal mats and toilet brushes are a big no no in our house . Both unhygienic- especially the toilet brush !!!
Cleaning the toilet is easy if done regularly, just grab those rubber gloves that are kept for that job !

This is getting pretty basic, but a good strong pair of long armed rubber gloves and bathroom spray with bleach.

I have several so change and wash them regularly.
Since DH’s stroke hes not very steady so we do have dribbles.i wouldn’t want the laminate floor absorbing the wet, so the mats are crucial.

Dreadful, disgusting, as well as being a trip hazard!

I don't bother with them. As much as a grubby breeding ground as a toilet brush. Yuck!

I don't really know what a pedestal mat is but I think my granny had one years ago if it's that thing that fitted around the toilet.
