Does anyone else find their social housing landlord abusive?

With regard to the housing I do acknowledge that the Council is so stretched for resources that it cannot meet most people's needs. When I got offered the flat the message was - live here or live on the streets.

But at least I have a pastor and a Church behind me now but I just wish it had not been so much of a fight.

Still it is so nice to be on this forum and know that I am not alone.

I would question whether the accommodation you are living in is suitable for your needs FionaH2000? It sounds like you are the only person in the unit who requires so much adaptation to make the accommodation suitable and the HA is not geared up to do so there, so I wonder would you be better suited to living somewhere with more support and adaptations already in place? There’s a risk otherwise of you becoming increasingly isolated.

Personally, I would complain to the highest level of management at the Social Housing enterprise! Moaning to contractors about you being unreasonable and always complaining is just plain nasty! They have a duty of care and must not discriminate under any circumstances, they are there to provide a service not make life more difficult!

When my husband was discharged from hospital after a hip facture surgery, our local hospital gave me the telephone number of the local NHS Community Health Services.

They are the ones that organised everything from carers if you need one (my husband did not want any), district nurses that either came to our house or give their advice on the phone if I have any concerns and physiotherapists.

Your physiotherapist should be the one that order a toilet frame to help you get on and off the toilet or any other equipment you need.

If it’s a housing association then I am guessing they have a person or team for special needs or extra support. Try that.

I am sorry life is so difficult for you, as you say you feel so alone.

There are various groups that can help and advise you. Contact your local Age UK and see what advice they can give. You could also contact your local councillor or MP.

Talk to local media, websites, radio, newspapers.
