I fancied doing so.e scone baking this afternoon. I was horrified to find some silicone 'tins' all greasy and sticky. They've got a white ' bloom' too. I soaked then gave them a good wash but they dried sticky. Do silicone items have a short life ?

Sounds as though they are still not clean, an oily residue? Try an oven cleaner on them, followed by a scrub with neat washing io liquid.

They are dreadful things. Food always sticks

I have used my deep oblong cake moulds for about a decade. Favourites are Cherry&Coconut and Carrot. They never stick. I always dust the insides with flour before filling. Eady to remove when cool by just squeezing the sides.

But yes, they do always have a sticky feel to them - even though I rinse them thoroughly and then put them in the dishwasher.
