Trundle bed recommendations

I'm looking to purchase a Trundle bed or similar (3' bed with pull out underbed). It will be used occasionally by an adult son, but also by my 2 young grandchildren when they stay over. I'd like the option of placing beds away from each other when the Trundle is pulled out.
Any recommendations for safe comfortable beds? Thank you!

We bought a bed from M and S some years ago. (It was sold as M and S but the identical beds were in a local showroom with the Relyon brand name. ) It has been so useful. One single bed, two singles, you can put one in another room if desired, or a six foot double bed when pushed together. An excellent buy, and the mattresses are extremely comfortable.

I’ll be interested to see any recommendations. All the trundle beds I’ve found so far on line don’t seem to be able to be separated

Yes, we have one from John Lewis. The beds can be used separately or put together. We’ve been very pleased with it. We use it for grandchildren but one adult used it and said it was very comfortable. John Lewis Wilton in white with JL mattresses.

I thought they were called truckle beds and went out of fashion by the 20th century?

We have the Relyon ones mentioned above.
They really have stood the test of time.
The mattresses are still good and firm, I don’t know if they are still available but would have no hesitation in buying them again.

My sister bought John Lewis ones, I inherited them when her children were in their forties! They were really good comfortable beds.

Thanks for all your messages. Just ordered Argos Home Bertrum Fabric Guest Bed with Trundle - Grey - seems to offer a comfortable bed option and reasonably priced - fingers crossed that it works well for the occasional use by family of all ages!

Trundles are still popular Oreo especially in small rooms, with limited floor space, but where a single can be converted to a double for adults, or a child can have a friend to stay in the same room. I have a sort of daybed arrangement, but a friend has the JL set with very good mattresses as it’s used quite often.

The room still has to be big enough to pull the bed out, surely?

I don't find them that useful in that regard- I just have two single beds.
