Induction hob

I have an induction hob on the top of my Aga and find it is excellent. It has a rapid boil setting, which boils a saucepan of water in around 2mins and the touch controls are immediate and effective.

They could find an instruction book on line. It would have the name of the manufacturer on the hob. Just look it up.

My GD and her partner called after work yesterday and read all your comments, thank you all so much.
They have now found a booster switch, no instruction book was left, and are happier with it.
They also love the cleaning aspect, one wipe and it’s done.
I am so pleased I asked the question.

DIL has one. Only issue is that unless you check with the control panel it it difficult to tell if on or off.

It is as fast as gas, but you do have to move the pan off to stop cooking, unlike gas

I have a gas hob , because we get electricity outages , which can last hours , we kept the street in flasks of hot water on one occasion
I did borrow a plug in induction hob while my kitchen was being revamped , and I agree they are brilliant

Had an induction hob for about 10 years and would never use anything else.
Its quick, clean and easy and very responsive.
Plus, really easy to clean, just a wipe with a damp cloth.

I like my induction hob.
Heat is instant.
Cools down quickly.
Easy to keep clean.
One downside, you cannot flambé, that’s when I get my gas camping stove out. I rarely flambé when cooking, but nice if making a beef stroganoff.

Guy came out and fixed it again not sure what he did as I was out when he arrived. We were his last call. All I know is it cost us another £100. But I do really like it when there are no problems

Iv’e had a Neff Induction hob for 18 years and never had any problems with it. It’s one of the best buys I have ever made and it still looks like new. Highly recomended.

If a magnet sticks to a pan then that pan is suitable for induction

I think people can confuse the black shiny surfaces, radiant heat hobs are often in a black shiny surface too. I have had induction hobs three times, in three different new builds and my goodness they are wonderful

I love the ones with a timer eg already today I have cooked large beetroots in my pressure cooker and that induction ring switched itself off

I love the fact that no energy is wasted and that induction is so quick and sensitive to controls. Mine is a basic rangemaster and even this one is perfection

We switched from gas to induction 6 years ago when we redid the kitchen. It’s so much faster than gas and so easy to clean. If it’s slower than gas it’s either nit induction and therefore electric, or she’s got the wrong pans. The only downside was changing all the pans. The first one I bought was rubbish! But decent induction pans make all,the difference.

I've a three "ring' Neff hob. I
It's brilliant.
Easy to clean.
Heats to boiling in seconds.
Cools down swiftly.
Been using it for 14 years.
Prefer it to the variety of hobs ive had in the past. Gas included.

Be aware though that you need specific cookware that it clearly labelled that they are suitable for use on Induction hobs.

I cannot have gas where I live now, and have got used to an induction hob.

I find it easy to use and quick, the only disavantage being that if anything boils over or even a couple of drops of water hit it from damp hands etc. it turns off and you have to wait about a minute before you can turn it on again. By that time pans have gone off the boil, which can be annoying.

I changed to an induction hob when I moved to a village with no gas, 13 years later nothing would ever make me have anything different now. They are clean, fast and so easy to use. I do turn it off at the switch every time I've finished using it, simply because my cat would use it to call me to turn the tap on for him even when he had a fresh bowl of water ready. If you leave something on the hob when it's not being used it beeps and I was getting fedup with being at the cat's beck and call.

Do many of you have an Induction hob and do you like it.
My GD has just moved to a new home where one is installed.
They said that 3 of their friends have them and do not rate them highly.
I have a gas hob and had been considering changing it purely for the clean tidy look of an Induction.
My GD having used it is not thrilled, she says it is very slow compared to my gas one.
Any really happy users?

I was not sure as always had gas but when we moved I was surprised how great induction hobs are. No issues with heat but the best thing is how easy they are to wipe over and keep clean would recommend

After much debate I got an induction hob when we had a new kitchen installed. I’d always had gas and hadn’t been impressed with any electric hob I’d tried. However, the induction hob is fantastic, if anything it’s quicker than gas, and really responsive.
It’s so easy to clean and looks good after several years. I have no regrets.

I have a Bosch induction hob, installed about 4 years ago after I used my daughter's one. It has a boost function which brings a pan of water to boiling in about a minute, a timer which is very useful (you can use it independently or connect itto a particular area of the hob to switch it off automatically.) Much safer than a ceramic hob as it cools down very quickly. And so easy to clean, as others have said. I wouldn't go back to gas or ceramic now.

I love my induction hob too, I've been using one for getting on for 20 years and also wonder if there may be some confusion between ceramic and induction? I suppose it is possible that the company who built the house bought a cheap and cheerful version that is not so good.
Induction is just as fast as gas and so much cleaner to use and to keep clean.
I'd suggest that if you're considering buying one you could ask a friend who already has one if you could try theirs for, say, frying onions?

I had one which came with the house, very poor, eventually I refused to use it and ignored it. My partner bought and installed a new one and it was there for a week before I noticed. Once I actually tried the new one I was more than happy, it's so quick and easy to clean, I'd not go back to gas or an ordinary electric one. Just get a good one, ours came from John Lewis.

Changed from gas to induction 5 years ago when kitchen redone. Wouldn't go back to gas hob again. Induction so clean and efficient. I have Neff.

I've had my age for about 8 years and it is the best kitchen appliance I have ever bought. Its quicker than gas by quite a bit because it heats up what is in the pan straight away, it doesn't have to get the pan hot first. Mine has a power button to get of to a super quick start when boiling water to add pasta, or similar, to. I did experience one in a holiday cottage a couple of years ago which wasn't as good but it was obviously an early model. Its also super easy to clean as others have said.
