Under-counter fridge

I have an under-counter fridge, and a separate under-counter freezer, in my nearly 30-year-old galley kitchen. Now I am approaching 70 and I do not enjoy having to kneel on the floor to see into the fridge to retrieve things, in order to protect my dodgy back at the same time.
At the moment, food gets stacked near the front, where it can be reached easily, and leftovers get gradually pushed back where they languish because no-one remembers they were there.
If I am ever allowed to get a new kitchen by The Boss, I will get a tall fridge. At least in a tall fridge, I'd see the mouldy half tomato! In the meantime, I'd like to know, how do people make under-counter fridges more accessible and back-friendly? Is it possible?

If you can afford it, then draw a plan of your ideal kitchen, taking into account the position of doors, windows etc.

Then find a kitchen designer, and tell The Boss (really?!!!) when the kitchen fitters will be arriving.

Alternatively, put the fridge on your worktop, rearranging things if necessary.

midgey I don't think the fridge would function as a fridge if you took the door off!!

Surely she just means the door "cover"?

If you have room for a side by side under counter F/F, why don’t you look at drawer type F/F.
Would you have to chop half your worktop down to fit an upright?
If so you will loose work space.

Same here, but I do have 2 small lazy susans in it and small plastic containers that pullout, and stack a little round them
