Why do people want you to do unlawful things.

When I give lifts to people often they want you to drop them off in a no stopping area on a red root or on pedestrian crossing zig zags.
Also people say they know a better route than the sat nav is taking you but when I tried it once the direction of the road had changed.
I must say I do drive lawfully and if people have to walk a bit further it is too bad.
