What does annoy me is I only get half of my wife's occupational pension and I am taxed on all of it as all of my allowances are used against my pension.

Thank you charleygirl I do appreciate your support I have a son who has anxiety and depression issues and lives at home with us and works very hard and earns less than £17,000 a year. To hear Frank "complain" about taxation over and over just makes my blood boil and realize just how unrealistic and out of touch people like him are.

Sometimes too much of a good thing is worse than too little.

Widows pension should be treated the same as any income and set against your personal allowance.

What's the problem, we all have to pay tax over this allowance unless you have a really good accountant.
