Widows pension should be treated the same as any income and set against your personal allowance.

What's the problem, we all have to pay tax over this allowance unless you have a really good accountant.

Sometimes too much of a good thing is worse than too little.

It really doesn't do to take Frank that seriously...hmm

annsixty smile Agreed!

Thank you charleygirl I do appreciate your support I have a son who has anxiety and depression issues and lives at home with us and works very hard and earns less than £17,000 a year. To hear Frank "complain" about taxation over and over just makes my blood boil and realize just how unrealistic and out of touch people like him are.

Charleygirl Sat 13-Jul-13 18:40:13

I am with annsixty all of the way.

Ana Sat 13-Jul-13 18:32:36

It's part of your income Frank. That's why you're taxed on it!

janeainsworth Sat 13-Jul-13 18:19:50

But Frank, why should you get more personal allowance than everyone else?

Ariadne Sat 13-Jul-13 18:02:51

Quod erat demonstrandum.

HUNTERF Sat 13-Jul-13 18:01:31

What does annoy me is I only get half of my wife's occupational pension and I am taxed on all of it as all of my allowances are used against my pension.

Ariadne grin

Ariadne Sat 13-Jul-13 17:05:42

Or a lead in to a mention of his pension...

Ana Sat 13-Jul-13 17:04:59

I don't think Frank was offering information, York grin
It's just one of his random announcements...

janeainsworth Sat 13-Jul-13 17:01:09

Where have you unearthed that from Frank?

york46 Sat 13-Jul-13 16:58:30

Thank you, Frank. I'm sure that for anyone lucky enough to be in that position the information will be helpful. Why pay any more tax than you have to!

PRINTMISS Sat 13-Jul-13 16:30:22

Quite!

annsixty Sat 13-Jul-13 16:23:46

If you get a pension from your spouse's pension scheme you should just count your blessings and if that pension exceeds £10.000 ,well words fail me for once.

bluebell Sat 13-Jul-13 15:29:53

confused

HUNTERF Sat 13-Jul-13 15:05:32

Something which should be done is if you receive a widows pension from your spouses occupational scheme the first £10.000 should be tax free as it is money the spouse earned.
