Paying for Nursing Home

It used to be that it depended on how old your friend (or any resident) son or daughter is.

Without a doubt Age UK. In the meanwhile go online to their site. They have a heap of really useful fact sheets.

Remember that Social Services will often encourage people like your friend to think that the house must be sold even if it isn't true, in order to save having to pay for your friend's mother's care.

If your friend feels she lacks the confidence to tackle SS by herself there are people who will advise and accompany to meetings.

If your friend is over 50, lives in the house and it is her only home she will not be forced to sell.
