is your friends name on the deeds? She must get legal advice before she is made to do anything. Awful situation for her.

If you click on the legal and money heading, there is lots of information there, Glamma.

If your friend is over 50, lives in the house and it is her only home she will not be forced to sell.

I am sure that you will find the help you are looking for here, glamma. I do hope so.

If your friend feels she lacks the confidence to tackle SS by herself there are people who will advise and accompany to meetings.

Without a doubt Age UK. In the meanwhile go online to their site. They have a heap of really useful fact sheets.

Remember that Social Services will often encourage people like your friend to think that the house must be sold even if it isn't true, in order to save having to pay for your friend's mother's care.

There may be GNetters who.have had practical experience of this?

It used to be that it depended on how old your friend (or any resident) son or daughter is.

My friend turned up to-day distraught that she may be forced to sell the family home she shared with her mother would have to be sold we have said she needs legal advice but she is convinced the information she has is correct, which way can she go now is Age UK the best for her.
