Consumers rights in purchasing

Himself bought a Mini Mac with separate monitor, latter had been used for 6 months, and was faulty
Fellow in John Lewis well send it back to be repaired, 1 month.

When he came back and relayed this to me I blew my top.

Quoted the consumer rights act of 1977, Goods should be of merchantable quality......... how did I din this into my childrens brains, himself was at work then.

Sent him back to JL to see the manager, and he got a replacement right away n o quibble.

Do not stores such as JL train their staff to deal with such problems, or do they rely on the ignorance of customers...... this law is very old but equally relevant today.

Now should he demand a full 1 year warranty on the monitor, I think so.

Goods should last longer than 6 months.
