estate.

And OP can't do anything with it, other than treat it as one of the assets of her MIL's estates.

I missed it too Teetime. flowers

I think Jess is right, the qualifying date has past and the computerised system doesn't allow for changes.

Sorry to hear your news, I must have missed it on a thread flowers

Donating it to charity seems like a good idea, one that she may have chosen herself.

Yes, give it to Help the Aged perhaps?

Sorry to hear she has died- but you knew how poor her quality of life had become. x

Or hers? smile

You could give it to your favourite charity?

There was probably an earlier date in the year when she became eligible. It would be too expensive to make day by day adjustments to the relevant file of names. Best not to stress about it at this difficult time. flowers

Many of you know my MIL died last week and thank you for your messages. Today DH as executor had a letter asking where to send the Winter Fuel Allowance having already notified all agencies of her demise. The answer is apparently that her estate is owed the money as she was eligible for it. I don't understand this MIL has died and will not be needing her WFA. Mad and wasteful.
