Hi I was wondering if anyone else had received it yet. I usually get mine every year on the 5th November. Not had it yet this year. It is linked to my husbands ESA. Anyone else ? xx

Nope, I was also wondering when it was arriving. Maybe the mild weather has delayed it but I doubt it.

merlotgran Tue 10-Nov-15 13:59:13

We got ours around the 17th Nov last year. Don't know if they do it in alphabetical order.

Ours hasn't come yet either. I usually use it to buy logs for the woodburner. I won't order them yet though.

Thanks everyone. Maybe they are late sending it. I usually get mine every year on the 5th November.

Just checked. I got mine on 25th November last year, so it's not late yet!

rosesarered Tue 10-Nov-15 16:24:41

Not arrived yet here either.

Falconbird Tue 10-Nov-15 16:25:44

mine will be first one and was wondering when/how it would arrive,is it paid with your pension payment?....havent had it yet anyway

TriciaF Tue 10-Nov-15 17:41:35

Those of us who live abroad probably won't get it this year, and I think that's right.
Even though some of us have extremely cold weather in the winter.

boheminan Tue 10-Nov-15 18:24:26

downtoearth Mine's paid directly into my bank account (separately from my pension)

Ana Tue 10-Nov-15 18:25:27

Yes it's a separate payment and not taxable.

rosesarered Tue 10-Nov-15 19:42:38

I'm going to spend mine on brandy and new gloves and other frivolities.

Coolgran65 Wed 11-Nov-15 00:01:36

jogginggirl Wed 11-Nov-15 00:05:19

TriciaF The winter fuel allowance was introduced as a way of increasing the state pension without tipping some pensioners into paying tax. (Ditto the £10 Christmas present.) Of course, inflation over the years has ensured that's not relevant now. I rather resent not receiving the winter fuel allowance, to which I was entitled before I left the UK, now that I live abroad. I also resent my full state pension, to which I was entitled before I left the UK, being frozen at its value in the year when I left.

jogginggirl grin...

mine will (if I ever get it) pay vets bills ( we are in excess period for two conditions and medications need to be bought) and resident teenage needs new mattress christmas presents/food,and two part worn tyres for the car as we not really legal...see I am spoilt for choicegrin

janeainsworth Wed 11-Nov-15 08:35:26

Thanks for the reminder that WFA is actually part of the State Pension Absent.
People seem to forget that, when they call for it to be scrapped or paid only to people on a low income.
I'm not surprised at your resentment at your pension being frozen. It's hard to see any logic or rationale for that.

Falconbird Wed 11-Nov-15 12:51:01

The Christmas Bonus was £10.00 decades ago when my mother was my age.

It was a very useful sum of money then - now - not much you can buy with a tenner. What will you buy with yours?

rosesarered Wed 11-Nov-15 14:45:54

Yes, joggingirl well spotted! ( when I am old I Shall wear purple, and a red hat that doesn't go!etc.)

rosesarered Wed 11-Nov-15 14:47:51

Falconbird how about ten Terrys Chocolate Oranges?

Synonymous Wed 11-Nov-15 19:21:48

It would be more useful if the amount was at least increased in line with inflation since it's institution so that it actually helps with the winter fuel costs. It seems more of a sop to the politicians' conscience at the rate it is at present. hmm

Has it turned up yet?
