Premium bonds

My 85 year old mother has £15,000.
She wins quite often. But surely it can't be a sure fired thing? There must be thousands who don't win at all. They fund the winners winnings!

I have never had a problem transferring money into my children's accounts, you can't transfer more than £10,000 at anyone time.

Same here for helping dd with wedding. And the premium bonds have been barren for the last year.

However, I am surprised that you are able to do this as I also had to jump through hoops (like harrigran)and fill in transfer forms under the eagle eye of a bank official when transferring less than that to DD for her wedding, the reason bring given was because of money laundering rules.
And we had had an account at that branch for over 20 years, the assistant knew me but rules are rules apparently.

I don't buy bonds for my children, who are in their 40s, I just give them the money to purchase them.

My premium bonds give me a better return than any of my bank accounts.
I am surprised that JJ50 has shared online, she could leave herself open to investigation. The hoops I had to jump through to purchase bonds for GC was most off-putting.

One of our children won £1000 a month or too back, which makes Premium Bonds a very good investment indeed.

In the current financial situation we too use Premium Bonds as a saving source. We have certainly had a better return than from the building society , even winning £75 this month.

When the interest situation improves then we'll move the money out to where we will get a better return.

I like the fact that at the end of the day you get all your money back - I'm very risk averse

We have quite a few and on average they give us as good a return as is available anywhere else at the moment. But not this month - boo hoo!

Everything we do is entirely legal and above board, none of us would have it any other way.

You don't need used fivers to be chased for money laundering, Jalima, just a big cheque after you have sold a guest house and want to put it in a different bank.

Anyway, you would have to be careful with the laws on money laundering being so tight these days, we had to fill in forms in the presence of a bank official when transferring funds to DD for her wedding.

You cannot buy them for a child over the age of 16
And, of course, you cannot dodge IH by doing that.

I've just given up with Premium Bonds. We didn't win anything for over a year, so wr've put the money towards a lovely new conservatory - much more enjoyable?

I am not too sure what the point is. Am I being overly thick?
