The New 'Plastic' Money

I don't like them much. The worst thing is that I have to fold them to go in purse or wallet, then they won't go flat again.
Liked the old ones.....

Like them or not, I think we are stuck with them now.
They don't seem too bad to me.

I've washed and tumble-dried a paper fiver quite successfully, so can't really see the need for change.

Read that money is the worst source of germs so love these as I can spray them with Dettol, I know , sounds extreme, but as I have an immune system disease is a godsend for me!

They are like the Australian notes - which survived the washing machine when I put DH's wallet through a lengthy wash. In fact nearly everything survived, even the leather although I had to give it a polish afterwards, the only thing that didn't was some numbers he had jotted down on a small card.

Love them - not tried washing one yet ! although I don't keep money in my pockets - tissues though but that's another story

I haven't even seen a plastic £5 note yet! I know I live in the back of beyond, but...

My local supermarket has just reopened after a multi-million pound refit. When I went in for the first time yesterday, I used the super-duper new self service tills - which won't accept the new fivers...
There's a poor assistant stationed next to them who rushes back and forth obtaining five £1 coins to be fed in...until the brand-new machines can be updated

I think the thing that annoys me most about them is that once they have been folded, they won't unfold - you can't smooth them out like a paper fiver. For some reason, that annoys the hell out of me! (Small insignificant things always annoy the hell out of me!!).

I like them but not the Scottish ones. There is no Queen, the design seems poor and the featured face is Nan Shepherd. Who? Plus there are 2 fish on the back. Very weird

I like them. In Glasgow last week, I got a Scottish fiver in my change. It was really pretty, much nicer than the paper fivers. My daughter exchanged it for an English one though, as my son-in-law, who is just home from sea, hadn't seen one.?

I assume that plastic notes will be easier to fingerprint!

Just a warning as well as not being able to go in the tumble dryer if you get given one that has been creased at all it won't go into machines Any creases on your note and the machine just spews it back at you which means you can't fold one to put it in an smaller envelope or back pocket or shove in a purse with your loose change they have to be kept straight
I personally find them too unforgiving too stiff and starchy

Check the ultra-violet feature – if looked at under an ultra-violet light, the number 5 will appear on the front of the note coloured in a green and red diamond pattern.

Yes, I am slightly OCD.

I will be giving some to younger GS along with his Xmas preesents. I will be able to disinfect them first.

I like them. I like the clean feel.

I'm even more impressed with them since I read all the things you need to check for to make sure they're not fraudulent. Five changes to pounds, purple changes to blue etc. Clever stuff. Not sure they'll not slide out of DH's pocket though.

I couldn't care less what the fivers are made of as long as I can spend them . But seriously, they're fine, and much better than the grubby old paper ones!

Hospital cashpoint would only allow £50 to be withdrawn. It appeared as 10 x shiny new £5 notes which I carefully peeled apart to count. Good that they fit easily into my purse, I could get used to them.
They do seem a little unreal , I'm resisting the urge to randomly hand them out!

I don't mind them haven't got choice anyway. We shop in Bexleyheath and park in the mall, some lady had no change for the parking meter and used a new £5 note which it wouldn't accept, hope they get to bring the machine up to date.

I love them but only because any new fivers that are given to my DH in change are mine to save,on Friday night over the course of the evening in our village pub he was given 3 in his change that brings my total for the week to 8, fantastic have to say i prefer the Scottish fivers the English ones look like they have run in the wash.But i will take both

I like them. Washable money can only be a good thing. The old paper fivers were disgusting towards the end.

I gave GDs a £5 note each last week, they went and asked their Dad if it was still real money as it wasn't plastic. I think it does look a bit like play money.
